Right, so I thought I'd pick the brain of the STW massive. We're off to see RATM at Finsbury Park on Sunday, and our original plan was to take the train (from Leamington). Unfortunately, any train after the concert takes 7 hours to get back to Leamington - the latest viable one is at 8.50pm, which coincides with when RATM are due on stage. -_-
So we're going to have to take the car - any recommendations for decent park and rides in London?
maybe drive part way to somewhere with a better train connect and take the train from there?
Cockfosters, big car park next to the station and get the Picc Line to Finsbury Park.
Drive down the A1 to Highgate tube station, turn left, drive down to Crouch Hall Road and park on one of the side streets for free. W7 bus from Crouch End Broadway (at the Town Hall) takes you to Finsbury Park inside 10 mins.
No I dont usualy invite people to park on my road but hey its STW and the sun shines
I'd follow aP's suggestion and park at Cockfosters, easy to find, close to M25 and no overland or change of tube required.
What mcboo says, although you can park closer and walk assuming the streets aren't rammed with other people doing the same.
There's a CPZ in the area (which I live inside) with variable days/times for "match and event days", usually meaning Arsenal matches at the Emirates stadium but I'd expect them in force for this. Ends 4:30pm on Sunday though so you may be OK depending on what time you arrived.
The areas north of here:
(pretty much parkland walk upwards) are mostly mon-fri, 10-12 residents zones to stop people using them for commuting but will be fine on that weekend. You can then wander down Parkland Walk or via the Endymion Road gate. Saves waiting for a bus, which will be heaving when it's over.
Cockfosters +1
