We will be in touch
Hi all,
Need to cut a 35mm hole through 3mm thick CF sheet. Will something like this be OK? Or is that too cheap to expect a decent job?

Ta, Duane.
Should be fine. I assume that you will be using the correct arbour. The area of the cut should be protected by masking tape to reduce any splintering of the surface of the resin. Drill a pilot hole for the arbour the cut the hole at high speed.
Cheers, I assume this would be the correct arbor;

Dont forget your facemask for the dust. Carbon fibre aint good for ya if inhaled.
I'd be tempted to use a step drill rather than a hole cutter
Carbon fibre or CFRP?
Very fine teeth on the saw works best. Or cover with masking tape, draw the circle, Lots of small holes finished with file, sandpaper.
(Plus mask, otherwise black snot for days, plus more major health issues.)
Cheers for replies.
Macavity- Carbon fibre. http://www.carbonology.com/carbon-fibre-sheet-3mm-0120-thickness-c-2_61.html
uplink - 35mm step drills are expensive 🙁
Brain, aye, dealt with carbon fibre before, nasty stuff!
Rich - tempted to go along the lots of small holes and file them round. Although it's faff/will take ages :/ Can I just use standard drills or do I need fancy ones?
Ta, Duane.
If it is CFRP that you are trying to cut holes in then it is handy to know what type of plastic it is.
Not all CFRP is the same. Carbon fibre is just the string in the plastic.
Water-jet cutting (abrasive water-jet cutting) might work.

Standard drills work for me.
