Good luck! Quite a few friends went that way as a career change. Tough but rewarding if you get it right

Are you just starting the training? Or nearing the end? If the latter, do you have an area of specialism?

Cheers fellas.

Are you just starting the training?

Will be starting next month, just had the call today to say I've been accepted on a nursing associate course,  so I'll be getting paid whilst studying and working.

One step below a full nursing degree, but much more accessible and I get to work in an area I love, Acquired Brain Injury.

Will be able to convert to a full nursing qualification, criteria not set yet, but two years for the associate degree with possibly another two to progress to full nursing qualification.

Was thinking about a full time nursing degree, but I don't have a mortgage any more, am debt free and would like to keep it that way.

It's been an absolutely appalling couple of years for various reasons, but there's light at the end of the tunnel.

49 and looking forward to rest of my life for the first time in a long time.

Onwards and upwards........

🙂

Congratulations Rusty. A real worthwhile job and I sincerely hope you enjoy it. I’d love a change but two young kids and a mortgage say otherwise.

Great post and good luck - I share your sentiments. Social Care staff are underpaid and undervalued and over-worked.

Congratulations and welcome the NHS, you’ll love it, hate it at the same time but there is little better feeling than making that difference to someone.

Ah bollocks.

I've just deleted most of my last post because I didn't want to offend anyone.

I wish I hadn't, they deserved it.

Congratulations and welcome the NHS, you’ll love it, hate it at the same time but there is little better feeling than making that difference to someone

Cheers Drac, much appreciated.

I've been looking at our local Ambulance and Paramedic services for ages, but it's basically just one huge mess locally.

Thank you for all the support folks.

One prominent nurse on here has made it his business to make disparaging and unecessary  comments about care workers.

To that individual, I'd just like to say '**** you'.

Cheers mate, that means an awful lot coming from you.

Sincere apologies for the remark in my previous post btw. I'd been celebrating a bit  and it was completely uncalled for.

Bravo . Hope it works out for you.

Will you be living in nurses quarters and do you resemble Sid James?;-)

True dat.

Sadly, no. Mrs Spanner has already put the kybosh in that one.

Besides, I'm uglier than a hatful of monkey's bums, in a broken Brian Blessed kind of way.....

I did used to go out with a nurse who's favourite tipple was  Benelyn and gin....I don't think I could cope these days.

There’s huge amounts of applicants for most services it’s pretty though to get into.

Nice one Pete!

I'll come and see you with tall stories about why I've got bits of me stuck in the hoover, and why I've no idea how that ketchup bottle ended up wedged up there 😀

🙂 We've all hoovered naked Binners, there's no shame in it.

If the old trouble comes back just give a it a whack with a copy of Women's Own and things should be fine.

Brilliant mate - you'll be ace

according to a mate who was a dr for a while and did the stint in A&E, apparently it's always Halloween when all the rectal insertion patients come in !!!
