Junkyard - lazarus

He does not have the video

Who said anything about a video, are you really suggesting that the only evidence of wrongdoing in a 36 page dossier would be a video?

If I was paying for commissioning a dossier I would expect to see some sort of evidence to back up claims made.

Has anyone told Tony Blair that dossiers don't need any evidence at all? He could have saved himself a lot of time and bother.

I think the problem is the people who discount a 36 page dossier will believe a tweet from Trump. What the news is now is immaterial, where it comes from seems to be more important than accuracy or content.

ernie whilst you are doing your thing the point remains the evidence is hard to get because its hard to get info from russian spies that is conclusive.

this is blatantly true despite your point which I am sure is in there somewhere in the sarcasm 😉

But maybe it doesn't work like that.......you can just make an allegation without providing any evidence? Is that how it works?

That's exactly how it works. Have you been asleep the last few years?

I had no idea!

Well the Trump camp certainly missed a trick........all they had to do was release a dossier on Hillary Clinton full of damning accusations - no evidence is required!

Still never mind, they won anyway. Perhaps they'll use that tactic next time. The new politics .... unsubstantiated claims about the your rival in a dossier you've paid someone to produce. I've obviously been asleep the last few years!

No, what I mean is release unsubstantiated claims about the your rival in a dossier you've paid someone to produce.

BTW Kimbers I have no idea why you appear to feel the need to remind me what an unpleasant man Trump is, I'm unlikely to forget. I have repeatedly acknowledged this.

This comment by me yesterday is hardly a glowing tribute :

Like when he said he was going to send a team to Hawaii to dig up Obama's birth certificate?

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/07/trump-sends-investigators-to-hawaii-to-look-into-obama/amp/

Trump's entire campaign was based on unsubstantiated claims!

I think we are all agreed trump is a gigantic douchebag.

He has wrongfooted politicians and the media countless times, because he is so erratic and unpredictable.

While it has been a strength he can't keep altienating the press , or it'll just be him and that Milo sleazebag from breitbart in press conferences.

I'll take that as you agreeing with me then, ie, unsubstantiated allegations have very little if any value. Because I can't believe for a moment you would claim that unsubstantiated allegations from the Trump camp are unacceptable but unsubstantiated allegations from the Clinton camp are acceptable 😉

And yes, among all the tit-for-tat posting the point I was trying to make was that Trump's opponents have been repeatedly wrong-footed by him, have failed to understand the "Trump phenomenon", and have generally underestimated him.

I don't believe that he's some sort of half-wit with poor communication skills and relatively little support, as seems to have been suggested on this thread.

And that the only reason he's won the election is because he is the first person the American people have had a chance to vote for who was a racist sexist bigot. Or because Hillary Clinton was such an awful candidate. Or because his fairy godmother cast a spell on the American people and suddenly made half of them stupid. Or whatever other explanation you can dream up.

If you want to fight demagogues and bigots you need to do more than just dismiss them as losers. Otherwise it just plays straight into their hands - do you not think Trump wanted his opponents to underestimate him?

Fox have put a pro-Trump reporter into the prime time news spot after Megan Kelly left, Murdoch is many things but he is not stupid. There are many US TV news networks, a few which Trump won't speak to doesn't matter. As for the pinted press who reads that outside of the East and West (even maybe not there) coasts and they already vote Democrat.

What Trump has shown the world is the MSM don't matter as much as they like to think they do. Without the charade that they are important they really have a problem.

Yeah the president only talking to media that agrees with him

Sounds healthy

I believe there's an f- word that describes such a setup

I might have got this wrong but are you actually suggesting that there aren't many people inhabiting the East and West coasts of the United States? And that there's no Republicans living on the East and West coasts - just Democrats?

+1 Kimbers, a point those who choose to make shit up seem to miss. It suits the post truth mob to avoid actual real journalists as they only seek to burst the bubble of awesomeness. Trump and his ego will bring him down. A piece earlier linked to how the impeachment of Nixon was seen as a lefitie wet dream at his inauguration and what followed was only the rabid idiots left to defend him.
My only hope is he does something illegal early.

There were also strong reports of footage of trump using the N word in the apprentice yet that never surfaced.

Apparently there are some cast iron law suits in place that mean it's going to cost about 5 million to get those tapes out. The guy who says he has on said he didn't release it as it would only have increased his popularity.
Trump supporters in racism expose shocker....

ernie what I was trying to say is the papers are more important to Democrats, the Republicans are so far behind in most big coastal cities what they don't really care. It doesn't matter what the NY Times has to say with regard to Trump. His supporters read Twitter. Who in Michigan is reading the Washington Post ?

Mike, Hilary spent $1 billion the Democrats could have found 5m no problem. The N word story imho is a fake.

Hence the big problem, the only truth they will get from twitter is probably their notice when their company folds and sacks them with zero compensation.

I'm sure they did something, but I think Hilary was just so unlikeable. There was dirt on both sides

Even with the dirt on trump she still couldn't overcome the stigma.

However she did win the popular vote but from memory, in the key states, she didn't lose to trump, but rather she lost to the independents. Again from memory,in the key states the independents got maybe 2% of the vote. In this election they got 6% and those were votes that would normally have gone to the democrat candidate.

with a lot being attributed to the FBI press release days before the vote which occured while they were allegedly sitting on the Trump allergations.

The whole fake news phenomena is a dream for the likes of Trump. He can now just dismiss everyone as fake news and his gullible supporters will believe him.

The n word tapes also (allegedly)feature him describing his younger son as retarded, again extra kudos among the hardcore Trumper's.
5 million, has no one done a kick-starter ? I reckon that'd be raised pretty quick.
Maybe that one will come out the day b4 his ceremony. !

Nixon was brought down by a disgruntled deputy director of the FBI (deepthroat) good job trump hasn't been slagging off the intelligence community lately 😉

I'm trying hard to fit your scenario with 2.5 million more Americans voting for Clinton than voted for Trump.

Nope. Doesn't work.

Do you think the structure of their voting process might have had something to do with it? 😕

Well let's be clear on that one. Our voting system is just as broken. A majority government can be formed with 30odd percent of the vote. We had a referendum to sort that one out and chucked it away. We really are not to be trusted are we?

Yes, wasn't quite as well publicised as the EU referendum though. And as the average voter wouldn't even understand the way voting works they wouldn't bother voting anyway (unless you could bring in an immigrant angle!)

well this mornings shower of tweets from Trump dont seem to be pleased with our MI6 fellah

Donald J. Trump ?@realDonaldTrump
released by "Intelligence" even knowing there is no proof, and never will be. My people will have a full report on hacking within 90 days!

Donald J. Trump ?@realDonaldTrump
Totally made up facts by sleazebag political operatives, both Democrats and Republicans - FAKE NEWS! Russia says nothing exists. Probably...

Donald J. Trump ?@realDonaldTrump
It now turns out that the phony allegations against me were put together by my political opponents and a failed spy afraid of being sued....

Judging by this morning Twitter meltdown I don't think his allies or ennemies will need to bring him down.
He is going to do it all by himself.

Russia says nothing exists

its very interesting that everyone at some point gets the full force of the Donalds ire for all of this ranging from the US services to the media to his own party and yet not once does he ever criticise russia for doing this.

I wonder why this is the case?

Makes you think eh

The security service must be bricking it that he takes russian reports above their own reports - hell the entire US political machine should be worried about that never mind them - whatever your politics

I don't think you need to hope... I'd be surprised if he hasn't already! Certainly the smart money is on him not fulfilling his 4yr term... Which brings us to Mike Pence! Oh Joy... Maybe Trump is the lesser of the 2 evils there!

With regards to the comparisons to Nixon... Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Some handle the power better than others, but everyone will let the power get to their heads a little.

Trump has already had a lot more power than the average presidential candidate, by being a business baron and a reality TV star. There is a far greater level of "don't you know who I am" and a sense of entitlement with Trump than any other US president in my lifetime for sure.

We just need a budding you David Frost to expose him asap!

All this golden shower stuff is very amusing, but behind those scenes Trump is doing stuff that affects peoples' lives - the latest example: giving credence to loony vaccination scaremongering.

There is no question that Trump is the lesser of two evils. Pence is a very dangerous man. Never mind his appalling domestic policies and record as governor of Indiana, just look at his foreign policy :

Mike Pence Embraces the Foreign Policy That Republican Voters Rejected

"Pence may be smoother than Trump. He may be less obnoxious. But for all his bigotry and idiocy, Trump understands something that Pence does not: There are limits to American power".

his non blind trust would be the most obvious example of this and then his nepotism - Son in law in important role

Probably more to come given his immense hubris and him used to bullying to get his way
The only issue is whether the republican party will care or turn a blind eye to this I suspect the later initially bit it depends on whether they think they can "work with him"
