TBF he’s been wanting a military parade for ever…..
Last time the grown ups stopped it, this season there are no grown ups.
Biggliest military parade, guess who's birthday. I wonder if he'll give himself medals.
Is he going too model himself on Idi Amin?
This was on American youtube talk shows a few weeks ago, iirc he first mentioned it again after not going to the repatriation of 4 dead soldiers. This is a dictator that wants a $90 million parade for himself but doesn’t want to spend $3 million for meals on wheels and yet his lap dog musk has cut essential departments claiming they were a waste of money.
What baffles me is there is still a lot of the MAGA cult that have lost their jobs, lost their benefits that still think trump is the next messiah.
Oh god he has the Scotland link. He is going full idi amin. The last last king of Scotland
WTAF!
He's cosplaying the pope now 🤣🤣🤣

Nah. That's ^ not going to happen, Popery is apparently already promised to Paul Merton, according to last week's HIGNFY 😀

There's a full blown chem trails/anti-vax "discussion" going on in our local Facebook group as a result of someone posting a video of some planes zig zagging the sky.
The cult of personality, conspiracies and the attractiveness of blame someone else for your ills rhetoric is attractive to parts of society.
The far right/extreme viewpoints have mastered this and are making gains that you can see acros many countries. Keep spouting authoritative sounding garbage that bucks the "system" but appeals to base instincts and people will flock to it.
You can lay the science or facts down but science is always wrong and you're just a sheeple for believing in gravity, vaccines and stopping distances.
There's also a lot who have now figured it out the hard way
I think they’ll really grasp it once they start protesting on the streets and the army and police are used on them.
I see the Trump effect has had an impact in another election. Oz this time.

After the council elections, I'm not sure Starmer fancies risking that effect over here.
He can afford to sit back for a bit and see how effective Reform are at local politics.
Trouble is they can make more noise now, they’ll be all over the local tv using every opportunity to blame migration.
Every local problem will be hijacked by them, don’t forget how Farage just used being an mep to get more screen time.
He’d go off on rants totally unconnected to the discussions/business being discussed as an mep.
The latest insane ramblings of the lunatic-in-chief. Another that he’s no doubt just made up on the hoof, hasn’t thought through at all and won’t survive first contact with reality

Reopening Alcatraz? It's almost as if he makes things up as he goes along 🙄
Tariffs on foreign films would actually be great news for every country with a struggling film industry of their own once retaliatory tariffs are introduced. Can't happen too soon.

Indeed. As the article makes clear, it is a costly place to run by dint of being an island, so how's that going to sit with the Doge principles? (Obviously, that doesn't imply he has any principles)
Opening Alcatraz? Clearly nonsense but it's stopped people talking about his ridiculous Pope AI image hasn't it?
I swear that with every new batshit executive order Donald Trump sounds more and more like the President of San Marcos
Hmm - that's very odd. Binners' BBC link a few posts ago originally referred to an article about 'reopening Alcatraz' but is now showing as one about 'tariffs on films made outside the US'. So the subsequent comments may not look like they're all entirely relevant. Ninja edit?
Link seems to work now.
I wonder what happens to Trump's brain at night.

Here's the Alcatraz article:

Although to be fair, Binners' comment still works for either article 😁
@thelawman - no ninja editing. Think it must have been a glitch with the BBC website. Maybe they’re struggling to keep up with the latest batshit pronouncements too? They do seem to come at quite a pace
The tariff on films he justifies by claiming that many are made outside the US to avoid paying US taxes. I think this is a dumb move but could potentially have interesting consequences in that films made outside the US will start targeting on non US audience. That could be the catalyst for some interesting rather than the endless superhero junk that gets churned out endlessly.

The same thing it does every night, Pinky, try to take over the world!

Thats a US domestic tax issue though... been happening for years. For example lot of spaghetti westerns were filmed in southern Spain despite being american productions - rather than film 'on location' in the actual 'wild west', it was cheaper for production companies to fly the whole shebang out and film in Spain 🤣 🤣

Yep venom the last dance - the opening Mexican scene was filmed in Cartagena and the last closing scene was also somewhere here

TBH I think they were Italian/Spanish - hence the Spaghetti westerns, Clint took time off from his TV stuff to do A Fistful of dollars and the rest is history. (60-70)
I also think that there’s actually not that much stuff made in hollywood, Hollywood’s where the execs and money people, stars are but production is more likely to be somewhere else , like Eastern Europe.

Pinewood Studios was used for 11 out of 22 MCU movies 🙂

Its almost like he has no idea whatsoever about how the global economy actually functions, and is stuck in a world that’s not existed for 50+ years, if it ever did
Hes going to be gutted when he finds out Marilyn Monroe is dead!
Yep, Thinking about it Alien is like nearly 45 years old 🙁 making films elsewhere isn’t that new.
and stuff like the India jones were shot on locations around the world, even Star Wars.
Ooops Snow White was filmed in Pinewood, I’ve said Eastern Europe but TBH the U.K. may be a big nobbler of Hollywood 🙂

What are the US tariff implications of filming in space? 🤪

like Eastern Europe and…. The UK. There are now more film studios in the UK than there are in Hollywood and they’re all mostly being used to film either US productions or US funded productions. And it’s not really because we’re cheap (although we’re less unionised than the US) it’s because we’re actually pretty good at it
when the fires hit Los Angeles earlier in the year film making in Hollywood wasn’t disrupted because there were no movies being made in Hollywood to disrupt
but that’s not to say there’s no film making in the US, but other states compete with incentives attract productions away from Hollywood
prior to this announcement there was an expectation that there would be an uptick in UK production simply because there was an expectation a lot of US directors and actors would simply leave the US for the duration of Trumps presidency and operate from London instead
There’s actually quite a funny comment on a post about filming in Almeria when it was being used for a rough Afghanistan/Middle East trouble spot town shot, someone mentioned that actually perhaps Almeria should worry about being the go to place to shoot rough run down areas 🙂

No one can hear you stream.
Please don't forget, all this weekend's nonsense is a distraction from what the junta is upto at home.
All the Catholics loved the image of him as the pope, apparently…
This is a president. Not that cretinous clown currently squatting in the Oval Office.
The May 4th "jedi" post by the whitehouse didn't do much better than the pope one.

Surprise surprise, they got it completely arse about face.
He might just as well post pictures of himself riding topless on horseback just like his bestie.
