the US admin bigging up a deal barely a week ago

I thought he said he was closing deals with 200 out of 195 countries in the world.

There's a great clip somewhere of a Trump minion trying to explain the more deals than countries,  none of these mythical deals being completed because they are "sub-deals" and other shenanigans.

Trump has got me thinking, where can I get a job whereby I can just make up blatant untruths about stuff I'm meant to deliver, and if the evidence is undeniable, just blame the other guy in my office?

It looks like the money markets are realising that Trump is nothing more than a pebble in a river...
My euro fund is still out performing my global fund, which whilst 'global' is very heavily weighted to USA stocks.

Global economy: exists

MAGA: no!

I can't read the article because it is behind a paywall but it would appear that it was the period immediately before the tariffs were introduced that caused the economy to shrink.

Imports grew at a 41 percent pace, fastest since 2020, and shaved 5 percentage points off first-quarter growth.

If that was the case then that particular issue won't effect the economy in the same way now that the tariffs have been introduced.

I just listened to a sound bite from trump, on BBC r2, so I'm going to assume it's legit...

The guy sounds like he's having a stroke in slow motion.. he just can't speak properly. Love him or hate him, he should be in a care home, not running a country.

He's Making Biden sound eloquent at the moment....

Trumps boss, Putin, must be very angry about this though? there must be something else going on here... I suspect this 'bi-latteral deal' ain't worth the paper it's written on.

Has pay-master Putin had anyting to say recently? He seems to have gone quiet, maybe his electricity got cut off.

He looks a bit like musk in that photo.

He's 100% done those 200 deals.

Did everyone see the malfunctioning Stepford droid who was all over every news outlet yesterday as ‘Trumps Spokeswoman’, Carla Sands?

She just suns up the MAGA cult perfectly. When faced with the reality of the stats and ratings, she just repeatedly shouted over people ‘Trump is the greatest president in American history!’ and then trotted out fantasy, made-up numbers. Then she’d grin a manic grin, like her circuitry was about to explode, reset and repeat.

Apparently she was the US Ambassador to Denmark in his first term. She comes across as absolutely unhinged, same as the rest of the MAGA lot

Ah you’all missed that little executive order that dropped a few days ago.

Strengthening and Unleashing America’s Law Enforcement to Pursue Criminals and Protect Innocent Civilians” - was signed by Trump at the White House on Monday ahead of his 100th day in office Tuesday. It instructs Bondi and Hegseth to “determine how military and national security assets, training, non-lethal capabilities, and personnel” can be used to support domestic law enforcement.

The order also establishes a legal defense mechanism for law enforcement officers accused of misconduct and threatens a crackdown on officials who prevent law enforcement officers from carrying out their duties.

As a columnist pointed out (as have many) Trump's impact is deeper than just the direct effect of the tariffs he imposes on whichever part of the world he feels like bullying on a given day.

The sheer uncertainty around what the Orange Slob will do next has destroyed proper business planning in the US and damaged it globally too. Headline-grabbing, narcissism-satisfying thrashing about is OK if your interests are solely that and shorting a few stocks for your mates. Encouraging a proper manufacturing business, with upfront capital outlay needed, to put a spade in the ground? No ****ing chance.

Why they ever elected this arsehole once, let alone twice, is something the US electorate can ponder on for themselves. But it won't do them any good. The Chinese propaganda video with the overweight US citizens working in factories nailed it first time and for all time.

🤣🤣🤣

Everything that is going on has nothing to do with Trump's belief's, there is a group of tech bros, libertarian weirdos, authoritarian weirdo's, and Curtis Yavin etc ...etc behind him feeding him talking points/policys.

Trump is merely the boil as exposed on the surface of the American skin, underneath there is a cesspit of infection bubbling away and eating at the underlying structure.

Given that this thread is about a man who makes Jabba The Hutt look like Robert Redford, I can't see the problem. 🙂

Didn't take long for the first to go, but at the same time, took longer than I expected.

Haven't heard much from Musk lately. Has he run out of things to break?

WTF is going on with the ‘Gulf of America’ baseball caps?

Is that where we are now? Government by baseball cap?

I suppose it was inevitable we’d end up there sooner or later, always likely to be sooner….

Looks like, if you’re a true believer, you now have to wear a MAGA one, with this one on top.

No…. seriously Elon… it looks great. You don’t look like a total bell end at all with two baseball caps on…

Is the USA literally the only country where the heads of government deemmit fit to wear baseball caps for official business?
I'm a casual kinda guy and hate suits but that's ****ing weird.

I was very impressed with the BBC report the other night calling all of trumps cabinet sycophants!

Just another example of what utter bell ends the current US government is when they kicked off at Zelenski for not wearing a suit.

Get sacked as National Security Adviser for comically inept breeches of security and find yourself as a UN Ambassador?

I suppose that’s Trumps idea of a big two fingers to the UN.

Actually, I doubt he’s given it that much thought

so first of his cabinet have gone

 Weiner who will be next?

Weiner? The Dem who sent pics of his wiener under pants?

Witkoff next. Completely out of his depth

Brink gone from the US Embassy in Kyiv, Davis in. Change needed to move talks forward

Change in people is not needed to move forward, a tangible policy towards making peace in the area that is not going to screw Ukraine would.

Witkoff leads on Iran, Gaza and Ukraine.

He hasn't a clue and reports whatever Russia feeds him. He is the first obstacle IMHO

Workable policies can only come from accurate information in respect of all of those states

On the baseball cap thing. I reckon the likes of Musk think they are sending some kind of message - both the one actually emblazoned on the (made in China) tat and something like "we're the new guys around here, fresh and unconventional".

The (hopefully) majority of people see that he is indeed sending a message. But the message reads "I'm a ****".

For me, Musk the supposed politician is neatly encapsulated by the scene in Scarface where Al Pacino's sidekick has obviously been told by a joker that the 'tongue thing' is the way to pick up women.

He goes up to a girl in a bikini, all full of self assurance, does the tongue wiggle...

She slaps him across the chops.

Does he realise the error he has made? Does he think he ought to change his approach?

No. He's gets angry and calls her a lesbian.
