Is it fairly obvious to everyone except trump that he's being used as a distraction while policies are pushed through and once he gets too embarrassing he'll get dumped?

Whats been pushed through though? He still doesn't have a cabinet to push policy, another nomination just withdrew. He is sacking people already and departments are light on numbers.
It's a truly dysfunctional government at the moment.
His speech yesterday was very light on any kind of policy, there was talk of getting rid of stuff etc and lots of taxes but no sign of action.
It's also becoming clearer that he is toxic to a number of the republicans and their campaign bank balances.

and cheers to the Mods for slogging through all of this!!

Getting back to alternative facts, Trump at his rally yesterday claimed something Muslim/terrorism happened in Sweden yesterday, it didn't, nothing untoward happened. A complete lie.

What does a president actually have to do to get impeached? Is directly lying to the population of you country sufficient?

No, otherwise all politicians would be kicked out. However, Trump does seem to enjoy taking lying to new levels.

Treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdeameanours. Lying is unfortunately not enough.

And also annoy whoever controls the House of Representatives.

(The Republicans at the moment).

Nothing pushed through yet but Bannon and Pence are waiting for the right moment to throw Trump to the wolves before trying to roll the clock back to the 30's or 40's.

Errr, yes, sorry about the post with the naughty 'word' in it. I 'may' have got home from a birthday party having imbibed a little and decided that dropping a c-grenade into this thread was a good idea. 😳

If it is any defence, it is the word that I associate most with Trump.

I'm guessing this is a set up, surely he must of had some sort of security vetting?

Why does someone want to make American Airports "great again"??? 🙂

A fake 'spontaneous' fan incident now!

As an excellent piece in the Graun said last week, Trump is not mad. He's just a vile person who has been constantly rewarded in life for being a vile person. Why would he choose to act any differently?

Look at the circumstances surrounding his first big property deals in NY city. Bluff, bluster, dishonesty and bullying was how he got his disgusting empire off the ground. It is precisely how he has got where he is. A system that rewards behavior like this is inevitably going to end up being run by someone like this at some point.

I believe that that guy is 100% genuine. It is ludicrous to think that it'd be a set up. Just look at how many times The Doughnut had to tell security guards to let him through. They must have been crapping themselves at letting a civvy on stage.
That's not a set up, no way, and if you think differently I'll verbally slap you down. Questioning The Doughnut will not make America great again, stupidly swallowing everything he says will.
Now, if I can get back to understanding the great trade deal that The Doughnut is offering the UK, the one where GM sell up their car manufacturing plant, I'll be able relax the rest of today. 😛

Truly staggering the amount of lies/mistruths,I was a originally a bit sceptical about the reporting on him and thought he had a point that they were just stirring it up for his admin but it does look nothing he says can be trusted to be taken at face value.

but it does look nothing he says can be trusted to be taken at face value.

There are a great number of pieces from respectable news outlets in utter disbelief that they don't even seem to bother spell checking the press releases, countless ones being sent out with typos and factual errors.

Unless the building is actually on fire if your job is to write and issue PR then you at least check you have used actual words...

If that is what is acceptable to an organisation then it does make you wonder what is going on behind the doors.

No it's an #altfact which his audience, of course, would have lapped up.

Given his love for all things Foxy this explanation makes sense

MIXED MESSAGES
The Fox News Tucker Carlson show aired a segment about a documentary maker Ami Horowitz and a film he had made about immigration and Sweden.
His documentary claimed Sweden’s generous immigration policy was linked to a rise in crime, and alleges the government there was attempting to cover-up the link.
It did not detail any specific ‘incident’ happening in Sweden this weekend, or in recent weeks.
It’s not the first time President Trump has acted as though he treats television as though it were his daily intelligence briefing.

http://www.news.com.au/world/president-trump-told-a-crowd-there-had-been-an-attack-on-sweden-actually-it-was-a-documentary/news-story/22c2657d96f0c1c778b24b8501a377a9

This may get very confusing as also coming up are some news reports that Kevin Spacy is POTUS, and one where this lot make Trump seem worse

He probably meant Belgium and not Sweden and train crash rather than terrorist attack, an easy mistake when you're stupider than a pile of pig poo.
Thoughts with the victim.

It seems fox had a section on a documentary that said Sweden had problems due to its lax immigration laws. Trump has seen this, taken or as fact and then invented a terrorist attack, it seems even fox news is incomprehensible to him. Maybe his news should be delivered via Peppa Pig to avoid this sort of confusion.

Is there any footage of him being pulled up on this yet? I'm looking forward to how he wriggles out of this and how his supporters are going to support him in this..

It's interesting that while we all look at the Donald, Mike Pence has been getting some serious air miles in and meeting lots of people all over the world - very "Presidential"

Donald has remained on the campaign trail and Mike has gone off doing the stuff Donald should be doing.

They're just resting then?

Given Fox News appear to have decided they're not on his side, and given they're presumably aware of what's going on, how long before they start deliberately reporting completely made up stuff in order to make him look (even more) stupid?

I had noticed he's been quietly doing and saying the sort of things you'd expect from a normal Republican president - and in fact contradicting Donny some of the time. I'm still not overjoyed about the prospect of him becoming president if and when Donny steps down or gets impeached, but he does at least appear to be relatively sane and I suspect will probably be fairly moderate when in power.

I think the main issue with Trump are just personality faults

The reality is he has to sell compromise and he is showing he has no interest in this only in laying blame to everyone but the Donald- even when it is clear he is lying on pretty basic information.

I think the only honest thing he said was when he said he could not believe he was a politician - it really has not sunk in yet for him if not the rest of us.

I think the main issue is shite policies, eg building 2000 mile walls and banning people of certain religions. The fact that he's self-obsessed tosser is secondary imho.

Yet more splits in the Party appear:

I have no problems with the press - Defense Secretary Jim Mattis

Sensible, decent, politicians trying to distance themselves from an increasingly desperate President perhaps?

But this is nothing new of course, his mad list of "terrorist attacks the media didn't tell you about" included things that never happened and things that weren't terror attacks- presumably because all of the actual terror attacks actually had been covered by the media so to find any that hadn't meant inventing them.

He would either completely fabricated a new terror attack in Sweden OR confused Sweden with ****stan.

Either way, not exactly sterling work to inspire confidence.

Are we back? I had assumed that the STW management had locked the forum for a period of time as a mark of respect for the victims of yesterday's terror incident in Sweden.

So it looks like you lot have a field day at the expense of an ordinary President Trump.

I said relatively - which admittedly isn't difficult. Most importantly though he appears prepared to do things the conventional way, which involves appointing sane advisers and listening to their advice.
Yet more splits in the Party appear:

I think the impeachment process has to be started in the House of Representatives, but I'm thinking if it does happen McCain is going to one of those pushing for it.
