Anyway, here’s a photo or Mr Evans in his MAGA hat

Which hopefully he'll have binned. I genuinely don't understand what folk who support Trump actually think about who/what he is.

This is what my Tory MP, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, replied with. Very similar to some of the others. I guess Dom sent out a pro forma. She seems to have added additional waffle.

I am writing in reply to your email about Dominic Cummings. I have received many emails from my constituents about this issue. Some in support of Mr Cummings, some very much against him remaining in post and many in the middle or undecided about it. Many of you will have seen the statement Mr Cummings gave at the weekend, which set out his position and corrected some details that have been outlined in the press.

I am not sure that what I have to say will change anyone's position. Nor am I in a position to answer some of the very specific questions about Mr Cummings' personal circumstances that many of you posed. But I want to assure you that I will always be your voice to Government, as well as being a part of Government. While I may not speak publicly on some matters, I will always convey your views privately and I have conveyed the strength of feeling on this issue.

Throughout this period I have done my best to promote kindness and understanding. This is hard on all of us. Every day is a challenge. And every individual faces a different set of circumstances.

Many of us are dealing with unimaginable situations. Many of us have had to make sacrifices. Many of us have lost loved ones. And all of us fear what might happen to those around us if they or we become ill. People have understandably asked me to help them interpret the guidance, where they have been unsure how to apply the guidance to their own circumstances. I have always advised people do all they can to follow the guidelines, to respect social distancing and to ensure the safety of their families and neighbours. I promise to always try to do the best thing for you, communities across the constituency, and our country. And I know that is the Prime Minister's utmost priority too. I trust the Prime Minister and I stand by him and the judgements he is making.

I have been getting on with the task at hand - doing all I can to support local people and businesses through this difficult time, as well as speaking with my opposite numbers in governments around the world, focussing on the best - and fastest - route to find a vaccine, and ensuring that we are boosting critical supply chains in the UK and around the world.

I fervently hope we can come together as a community to continue the hard work we have all contributed to in combatting this virus.

The same Nigel Evans that was charged in 2013 for 8 sexual offences, had to resign his commons post and is now back as the MP for the Ribble Valley?.

..Oh no, sorry - I've just read he was cleared of all 8(!) charges so clearly he didn't do it or if he did, it was 'drunken over-familiarity' (his words, not mine).

It really is a race to the bottom (no pun intended).

Lord Summerisle - he’s my MP too. Have you seen this? He’s not a popular lad on Anglesey.

I bet he will have pissed some people off in his family if he is bringing some planning heat to an unauthorised dwelling.

The building looks like its been there a while so planning won't likely be able to do anything but the backdated council tax is going to sting (not to mention future tax). One of the more expensive trips to Durham anyones made I would think.

I would love to see an example of one of the many emails sent by people who felt motivated to express their ambivalence.

I have been asking Matt Hancock that very question for years, since the attempted forestry sell off, how many letters of support for the sell off did he receive as opposed to letters against? In view of the fact he voted for the sell off I assumed he must've had a lot ...... to date and after many requests I have yet to get any answer, should I be surprised .... but I'll keep asking.

Is there a time limit? My brother has just had planning investigate a building of his and they have ordered him to have it removed (after several failed appeals for retrospective planning)

I don’t think he means that other people in the same situation don’t face orders to have their buildings removed, just that the man who is running the country won’t. I know people facing eviction and demolition of their homes… but Cummings won’t have his off the record second home challenged. One rule for us, for you another…

Yes, its 4 years for change of use (which would probably apply here) and 10 years for new builds etc. Its from when the building was built to the noticing of the breach I believe, so passing the time limit while arguing about it wont count.

Sod the Al Capone "let's get him on a technicalty", I want to see Cummings swinging from a lamppost for what he has done to this country.

The Mirror is suggesting Pritti Patel could be for the chop for not following the cabinet line supporting Cummings enthusiastically enough - I guess there are other reasons for getting rid of her, and I can't see her being a huge threat to the party if she is demoted from cabinet, but Cummings is not making any allies at the moment is he?

I think she may walk for other reasons… they ignored the advice of her and her team to get people to isolate properly when coming into the country when it mattered most… to the extent that she hid as best she could to avoid questions about why it was not happening… she is clearly frustrated with being minister in name only (ask her civil servants how that frustration manifests itself) and will walk at some point… just like Javid did.

They are all ministers in name only by the way… the powerlessness of Raab and Hancock when they had to front the instructions coming from Cummings, while the PM was fighting the virus himself, came to the surface whenever they were asked questions by journalists.

I might mister a smidge of respect for her if she went before she was pushed and blamed Cummings, the way Javid did.

To lose one BAME minister might be a misfortune, to lose two looks like....

But surely that applies to the lot of them? This isn't cabinet government. There's not even the pretense that it is.

The Guardian was reporting weeks ago about the simmering anger with ministers that they were not being consulted about anything, that all decisions were being taken by Cummings in number 10, then they were literally handed a piece of paper listing his latest dictat, then shoved in front of the cameras to sell it at the daily briefing

Mind you, they're not exactly a bright bunch, are they? Poor little Matty Handjob hasn't even realised that he's being set up as the fall guy. Everyone else could see it months ago

My MP has replied, I'm not going to type it out in full here because its VERY similar to all the others above except a bit more curt and dismissive.

Basically......
I dont know any more than you
The police haven't charged him therefore he hasn't done anything wrong
Nothing to see here
Move on

powerlessness of Raab and Hancock

'Powerless' is too charitable. It is like saying I was 'powerless' to stop a tide of lava.

They are inept, arrogant and have been chosen for their belief in 'the project'.

When you select people for their adherence to a main policy that is manifestly stupid, it is no surprise that the characteristics that rise to the surface quickest are arrogance but most of all, stupidity.

QED.

Letter from Rees-Mogg. Blah, blah. Trip was under the rules, child care, test drive was the right thing to do. Cummings is very intelligent and the country needs him, Johnson is loyal.....

Letter from Rees-Mogg.

Ten weeks too late when you consider that toilet paper was being panic bought and the shelves left empty.

And nothing that will stick here either... Any breaches are seemingly outwith the time limit for enforcement.

Plus the chief prosecuter may get prosecuted.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/jun/10/uks-top-prosecutor-threatened-with-legal-action-if-dominic-cummings-not-investigated

this is getting into Alice in Wonderland territory if we are not already there.

So he* breached planning application. My understanding is they are still investigating whether he* has been evading council tax.

*DC listed on deeds as I understand it so jointly liable wit his parents.

Well, I have received a comprehensive written reponse from Antony Higginbotham, MP for Burnley.

And I'm actually quite impressed.

Basically, he would have acted differently to Cummings and has made his views known, but has supported constituents who have contacted him in regards to exceptional circumstances regarding child care.

All in all, quite a balanced response.

I shan't be voting for him, but am somewhat reassured by the content of his reply.

Alastair Campbell has been analysing mps replies or rather cut and paste replies from No10 bunker.

Can we all go and stay with our parents now? If it is instinctively in the best interests of our children? I think we need clarity… Cornwall is calling me…

I still haven't even received my copy and paste reply from my shithouse of a Tory MP. And neither has anyone else. He's properly gone to ground.

It's now getting quite funny though. He does love his photo ops trying to make himself look like an actual human being. He's a habit of popping up at food banks etc having his photo snapped, then promptly disappearing. Then it'll be all over social media 'here's me working hard at the food bank helping disadvantaged families. The ****!

But now everything he posts is just immediately swamped with comments like 'do you actually have any intention of answering any of your constituents letters and emails regarding Dominic Cummings?'

Our former Labour MP (and candidate for the next election) has been having an absolute field day with it 😀

If I could pass a law it would be to have mps expenses displayed in food banks.

The horse has bolted though, Starmer, whilst not ideal would be an infinitely better PM Than Dominic Cummnings, cannot prevent a no deal brexit in a few months, they still have a huge majority unless you expect a bunch of tory MPs to cross the floor.

Then the shit will really hit the fan, and the conservatives will be laughing all the way to the bank.

You would think that with all JRM's money he could afford a functional spellchecker, but that letter posted above has a clear mistake. We all know it's not spelled [CONT.]
