Does anyone else think that the DC story is a deliberate distraction?

The “eye test drive”, talking about taking his kid to hospital, and blog edit, may well all be distraction techniques… but they are to get us talking about anything other than his blatant “escape to the country” antics… I don’t think going to Durham or Barnard Castle were anything other than him doing what is best for him and his family, and that is why both were kept quiet. It’s game theory again… he needs the rest of us to do our “civic duty”, while he looks out for number one only.

Never mind that her old man is a chortling racist.

Is anyone else experiencing an unhealthy amount of anger at the phrase "laying doggo" used by Ms Wakefield?

"Oh yah, I mean he was tooooootally in-car-par-sitated, daaaaaarling, completely doggo, in fact".

And yet, apparently he is portraying himself as the enemy of the metropolitan elite. When he lives in a large townhouse in Islington, he was a journo and his missus is a 'writer' (although her prose is indescribable) with a super-rich Daddy with oodles of land they can retire to?

Hypocrisy is something only the little people have to worry about, I guess.

That Brexit/Agriculture Bill sneaking through is a prime candidate

I've seen this a couple of times.. but I thought parliment is in recess so nothing is going through?

I think part of the issue with this is that many people are still framing this as brexiteer/remoaner issues; including a lot of the polling about perception of the issue. This makes it easy for the Govt to dismiss as sour grapes. This particular issue has nothing to do with Brexit and if it was treated as independant I think the chances of him staying would be slimmer.

Starmer was smart not to push for a Brexit extension, by doing so he not only left the Tories to wallow in a mess of their own making, he decoupled Brexit from the Coronacrisis. The Tories can sling all the mud they like but they can't find a political target on which it will stick.

Nothing, particularly time, will disguise the fact that the Government has lost control of the primary instruments of State.

That one is an absolute stinker. Jenrick has admitted "unlawfully" signing off on the project at the last minute to save his pal £40 million quid.
What a crook.

Heads up for ITV news as well.

On the nightly news after the Rose Garden presser they led by framing the situation as a Trumpian grab for power.

They then followed up by suggesting that dissenting Tory MP's who weren't calling for Cummings resignation were pushing to make a deal that if Cummings stays the Cabinet has to undergo radical changes, putting some grown ups back in charge and reinstating the authority of individual Cabinet offices.

If this were to happen Cummimgs role would become obsolete, as his only purpose is to destroy the traditional democratic institutions. Boris would then be the puppet of the Cabinet for as long as he is usefull to them or for as long as he can put up with the humiliation.

Boris releasing a bit more good news about easing restrictions. Looking the good guy again and giving the plebs something else to talk about.

He does, unfortunately those who are going to die, lose loved ones, lose their jobs, their homes and their hopes for the future don't.

Surely Jenrick should now be prosecuted?

It’s coming to something when a government minister gets fingered for a 40 million quid fraud and nobody bats an eyelid, as by the standards that we expect from these gang of shysters, that’s neither here nor there.

The Tory head of the council, who resigned the party whip in disgust, was on the radio at lunchtime.

That was 40 million that would have gone into the coffers of the local council.

Have a think about that for a minute. He committed fraud to save his mate 40 million quid that would have gone into local government specifically to fund local infrastructure projects in a high dep area

They really are total scum!! They are absolutely devoid of a single shred of human decency

The tories are the sleaziest they have been for decades. Even nearly 30 years ago when Major's lot was at it, it was mostly just shagging their way into honey traps.

This lot make that era look like In The Night Garden.

A mates Facebook memory the other day was him suggesting a year ago that by now we'd be looking back fondly at the Theresa May government 🤦

Cumstain is going to get away with it, bastard.

Groups of up to six can meet in private outdoor spaces so long as members of different households stay 2m apart. This is very good news for grandparents wanting to see grandchildren (and I am genuinely happy for them).

But it will diffuse a lot of the anger of the boomer gammons. This is the group that will have shocked De Pfeffel most by getting bolshy over the actions of Cumstain.

Premier Iconeskay

@dannyh – I bet those easing of restrictions were not originally planned for now

Given that ScotGov are allowing up to 8 folk from two family groups to meet in the same circumstances, I'd say that was pretty much on the cards for at least a couple of weeks.

At least she believed in something. It reminds me of the scene in The Big Lebowski where Walter effortlessly flips from criticising people as Nazis to criticising them for being nihilists by saying of National Socialism "At least it's an ethos".

I like to think that lying and getting away with it would at least prompt May to feel a bit guilty. Johnson and Cummings are probably playing the biscuit game to celebrate right at this moment.

Yes, we've gone from "listen to everything the wise scientists say and follow their advice" to " oh Christ, don't let them say anything!"

Might as well just get Cumstain to do it. He runs the ****ing circus anyway.

Or at least he implements the orders of those who really do....

Cummings to quit in 6 months?

Would that be about the moment that the no deal Brexit shit well and truly hit the fan? That actually sounds about right.

Six months and his job is done, then he'll become a global doctor evil for hire, offering to shatter the fragile democracy in some developing country somewhere where his mates, the JRM's and the Aaron Banks types can plunder all the booty. Just (a rather depressing) thought.

If he clings on for six months its a no deal Brexit. If he goea we'll end up leaving with a deal. There'sstill time for him, and Boris to screw up, if the R number goes back above one it'll be seen as the Cummings bounce. He'll own it.

Just watching QT and watching Tory MP Helen Whately answering questions is like watching a car crash in slow motion.

Thankfully most of the panel/audience seem to have a very low opinion of cumstain.

Whilst we're stuck debating twentieth century political ideas like capitalism and socialism, c***s like Cummings and Boris, just like Isis are trying to drag us back to the middle ages, a time when parliaments were subservient to kings and democracy was some ditant idea from ancient history.
