This has popped up a few times in the last few days on my FB page but it appears to be a meme from 2013.

No matter. If you've not heard it, it is utterly brilliant. Mesmerising and haunting. My first reaction was that it must be a genuine cover version being passed off as something other but a quick search on Google shows it's not.

Enjoy:

That it quite something. There must be more 45s that work just as well at 33.

I'm pretty sure the Dolly Parton version featured in Singletrack magazine a year or so ago.
There's a Miley Cyrus Jolene slowed that is even better.

That doesn't surprise me. Not sure why I am only seeing it now but this does date back to 2013 and is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect to see here.

It's just so entertaining it bears repeating.

SAW-era Kylie sounds like Rick Astley if you play a 45 at 33, and vice versa 😆

The 33 rpm version of that Wanda Jackson track was used to good effect by the Dudes for their bog riding antics.

I've got two 12" singles that I can't decide whether they're supposed to be played at 33 or 45. (I forget the name of them both just now). They sound good either way, but sound like they could be wrong either way too.

I seem to remember some of the singles of the Screamadelica album played really well slowed down from 45 to 33

Thank god for Serato, now i aint got vinyl decks!
I have been trying to ID a tune i heard in a set in around 1995, i tried searching what i remembered of the lyrics, genres and similar sounding artists on discogs, all sorts- i never gave up.
Recently a mate recorded a set he played that i didnt go to, and he bluetoothed a rip of it over to my phone... well bugger me with a sponge, whats mid way through the set?
So i shazzamed it, i track id'd, i sony'd it, i soundhound it and no hits. At all.

So i listen a few times to the set knowing he used vinyl and tried to work out the pitch he'd used on each track up to and after. Id guessed he'd pitched it to around plus 7 on an SL1210, so ran it through Serato pitched down, thats when Shazzam finally found it!

And more importantly, thank god for Discogs!

Couple of bangers from a few years ago. The Shlohmo one is taken from a mix as it features a Flume song in the second half

Two from the late 80's/early 90's?
Hedging my bets on Radio Babylon by Meat Beat Manifesto and that Depth Charge EP that I can't remember the name of!

It went proper ravey at 45 and -4 or 5. Made it sound like the Prodigy!

Pinky and Perky slowed down sounds just like two blokes who were sped up to sound like two puppets singing.

Goldtrix & Andrea Brown - It's Love (Trippin') Different Gear Vocal Mix,

It plays at around 125bpm, but i ALWAYS pitch up without locking the key to around 133bpm, it takes on a whole new feel from the right speed here, ill see if i can set up and record it to youtube at some point when i'm home

After a quick but of YouTube crate digging, I just found out it was a 45, so it was something that sounded similar with that drum loop, but wasn't radio Babylon...

Someones put up the Depthcharge tune at both 33 and 45...

My parents had a Pink Floyd album (not sure which one) that I accidentally played at the wrong speed one night after a few smokes and then continued to do so regularly while chilling out after a night out.

Decided I preferred it that way even after listening at the correct speed.

This is pretty great

Non of the above - I certainly wouldn't forget a Jack Dangers track - although Radio Babylon is nice slowed down. No they were both real obscurities - bought on spec and I've never heard them played anywhere else which is why I've always been unsure of the correct speed.

One was prob mid / late 90s and a distant relation of On-U sound - not on their label just shoved in the same rack because Skip MacDonald produced it - quite unusually packaged and almost seemed like it had resulted from some sort of arts funded or business start up scheme than a record label. It sounded slowed down and good at 33 but it also sounded speeded up and good at 45. The other was something french and bought around 2001. Both had pretty sparse labelling with no mention of the intended RPM

EDIT - haha - just had another rummage - found the sleeve but for some reason not the disk - an Andy Farley album is hiding in there. B-Dum B-Dum Sound (and "part funded by Bolton Arts Council") a quick youtube suggest 45 was the right speed - I think I played at 33 first and just preferred it like that.

Very cool!!

Nothing beats the white Stripes cover of Jolene - favourite song ever

Been lucky enough to see them live doing it a couple of times too

I knew I wasn't imagining it. this works a bit better if you can speed it up and then slow it down.

Now hold on, Dolly may well be getting on a little but I'm sure she didn't record Jolene on a 78.
