Hi, we've got a young springer, 8 months now had her since she was 12 weeks. We've also got a 5 year old springer, and have had 2 springers before ... all at the adult dogs have been brilliant, lovely and pretty well trained. Our new pup (female) is a lovely character, v people orientated (and possibly keen to be top dog), lively and well trained (and responsive to training) except for toilet training - she's still weeing (generally once) and pooing (once) each night, and occasionally does a wee inside even if the back door's open. None of our other dogs have carried on like this. She seems to know it's naughty as she'll be a bit sheepish. when she goes outside to wee, we heap on the praise and attention immediately.

She's walked several times a day, eats well and not near bedtime, has an open back door most of the time, lots of attention, a great role model in the older dog (and they get on really well), and we would only try and tell her off/instruct re messing if we're there at the time.

It may just stop as and when, but I wonder if she's attention seeking a bit (she's v keen on us and the kids). Any suggestions of training hints, or things to do to try and stop it?

Thanks

I have a 2.5 yr old GSP. He weed and pooed in the house until he was just gone one I think. I it always in the same place? If so the scent may have made her think that this is her toilet, even though she knows it's wrong. Perhaps try moving her to another part of the house overnight and use a scent removal spray to clean the area she is weeing/pooing in. This seemed to work pretty well with ours.

I guess she's still v young, just the 3 others were so quick at toilet training! And she's doing it in different places - we do de-scent the area as best we can.
