Just on the offchance:
We found a dog on the road just outside Delamere this afternoon. Small black and tan terrier, very friendly, and with a black harness (no tag).
Asking on here in case you were riding and came across anyone looking for a dog!!
He's currently watching my kids playing on their playstation!!
Assuming no tag, have you called the police?
i'd suggest you take him to your nearest vet and get him scanned for a tag.
[minor rant] it amazes me but some people think that because they've tagged their dog they don't need to fit a traditional name tag. very often it would save everyone a lot of hassle and heart-ache. i nearly took a spaniel home a few years ago after i came across it at our local spot. after about 15 mins the owner turned up, seemingly unconcerned.
if an owner is worried about the tag getting caught there are flat-fit ones which fit flush to the collar ( or in this case harness ). our dogs have them because they do agility and dangly ones aren't allowed. [/minor rant]
Well done for taking it in ...nice doggy, woof!
I assume that a concerned owner will have left a message with someone at the ranger's office or put up a notice somewhere obvious.
Go to vets and get him scanned for a chip.
What does it look like? As there's an old woman up our road who keeps leaving her gate open. And her dog is black/tan - I'm rubbish on dog types Got any pics?
He's now home!
His name is Berti, lives in Chester and his owner is in bed with flu. Neighbour took him for a walk in Delamere and lost him....as you can imagine, he was extatic when he found us!!!! Not told the owner yet, apparently!
I'd left my number everywhere...visitor centre, with walkers and MTB'ers in the forest and even called in at the kennels on the edge of the forest. Bizarrely, it was the kennels that the dogs carer called in on and...hey presto!
My kids are missing him already!
Merry Christams!
A Black and Tan Dog!!!????
Jeez, I thought we'd seen the end of those days
Actually it was tandem jerrys. He got it as a presant for christmas but the dog sniffed his crotch so he dumped it ๐
