I've just noticed that the flue on my gas stove isn't sealed, is that ok? Should I put some flue sealant on it or is it ok to leave? Or does it require a proper check instead? We have a carbon monoxide reader in the room and it's never gone off.

You might be surprised to learn that a lot of flues like the old Selkirk qc stuff used on atmospheric boilers is not gas tight. Yours shouldn't be anything to worry about but a bead of sealant wouldn't go amiss.
Looks like it is an open flued appliance, therefore the flue is open to the room that it is in. But yes usually the bottom connection of a flue should be sealed to the appliance, traditionally with fire cement which tends to crack after time. Try some high temp silicone.
