MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Right, since no-one seems to want my lovely Kona frame, perhaps because the polished finish is in such a state, I am considering stripping it and polishing it back up.
Now - the stickers are stuck straight onto the bare metal, and the clearcoat is applied over the top. Do we think that if I used paint stripper it would damage the stickers? What are stickers made from?
I would say yes
Yes it would damage them. It'd soften the adhesive at the very least if not eat at the vinyl or whatever.
Almost certainly and it would definitely stop them sticking... but new copy stickers aren't that expensive.
The ebay stickers just say Kona, they don't say Heihei Supreme 🙁
gil@thecycleshed.co.uk will be able to sort you out with new stickers, especially if you can photograph/measure them before removal.
Beaten to it,
Measure, take photos and take a tracing. Also if you want to match the colour take a bit of the old vinyl to your local signmaker.
Actually - a rubbing might work. Nice idea.
Pop a bit of masking tape over the area, do rubbing, stick masking tape to piece of paper.
I wonder if I can trace through the rubbing onto my tablet?
Is all that worth it for an old frame?
It's an old frame, but it's really a superb thing. A stiff FS frame weighing 4lbs 14oz - that's pretty good. If it were 29 I'd still be on it.
So I want someone to be riding it and I don't mind putting the work in.
Or, I could ebay it...
