I've got man flu, and I'm completely full of snot. Poor me. 😥

There's only one thing I want to eat when I'm feeling sorry for myself like this...

[img] [/img]

with Warburtons toasty bread to dip in it

Whats your default food when you're poorly sick then?

*sniff*

Whiskey and hot lemonade. I nuke one of the sharp cloudy ones in the microwave. Strangely enough it still remains fizzy. Add as much scotch as necessary.
Begin sweating your cold out. Fall asleep shortly afterwards.

I always lose my sense of taste, so usually go off food completely, if I have a heavy cold.

Cheese on toast is top of the "got my taste back" recovery foods.

I thought we might be having a rare moment of agreement on food with the tomato soup JY. No animals were harmed during the making of this meal 🙂

It was just what was needed though

Put sausages and potato wedges in baking dish.
Season with whatever (smoked paprika, mixed herbs or just S+P).
Bake til nearly done.
Pour tin of beans on top.
Bake for another 5 or 10 minutes.
(Crack egg on top for the last couple of minutes if life's really bad).
(Add cheese if life's really really bad.)
Eat straight from dish.

Physically ill: No. I basically eat what's there and what I can keep down.

Feeling down: Anything with sugar in. Then I go to the gym, burn it all off and feel better.

My chicken noodle soup does the job. Makes me feel better, and has the added benefit of helping me feel better when ill.

In a large pan;
Chopped garlic
Chopped ginger
Two chillis, sliced lengthways
Ground pepper
Asparagus, sliced lengthways
Baby sweetcorn, as above
Spring onion, finely chopped
Good slug of fish sauce
Good slug of dark soy
Veg stock cube
Couple of pints of water

Leave it all to steep in the water for as long as you feel like

Bring to the boil, then drop in;
2x chicken breasts, diced
Egg noodles (Sharwood's medium work well)

Back to the boil, then serve, topped with a little chopped coriander and a good squeeze of lime juice.

Heavenly.

What kind of chillis are we talking about here? Mildly hot or crazy spicy?

I just tried to communicate with my taste buds with Gorgonzola on salt and pepper bread. I could just about taste it.

To taste! As with the garlic and ginger (FWIW, I use about four or five bits of garlic from the greengrocer, which are pretty big, and about a thumb sized piece of ginger.)

I use my own grown stuff, with the aim of giving it a nice kick, without being eyewatering.

custard. and ice cream if its a particularly bad "need to feel better" moment.

in similar situation when I was ill as a kid, my folks would feed me hot milk with bread slices (not bad actually) or white bread with sugared butter. (eek, thinking back now...)

Physically ill doesn't happen too often - don't really feel like food beyond kids' cereal, biscuits, cake and toast.

Down in the dumps - all of the above and more. Explains why I'm such a buffer!

Fish & Chips or Chana dal with good bread/nan bread

Those are the two that come into my mind immediately ...

Or if man flu is bad then porridge ... with sugar.

When I'm ill, tin of fruit salad/mandarins. No idea why, its a childhood thing.

Rest of the time, anything from the Kamran curry house in town.
