My brother, who lives near Bath, rides with one of the GMBN guys, and because I am often in the area to visit him, I wonder about catching up with one or more of the GCN guys. At the same time, I assume they must almost get swamped with people 'offering' to ride with them, or stopping by the studios, or whatever.

Considering how many Northerners are on this forum, especially in the Greater Manchester area, would it be right to assume that the STW folk are beating off wannabe riding mates with sticks?

Yes. It would be safe to assume that.

I'm 37.

I once bumped into the STW massive in a pub in Todmorden. I was utterly startstruck and was given a badge, which I proudly wore on my Camelbak until it fell off.

True story.

Also, Matt (ex of STW) once sold me a set of Pace RC40 forks.

Mostly this. But when I say 'catching up with', I mean more something like 'say hi and have a chat with', or 'buy a pint for'.

I guess not as many offers as you may think but when it does happen the person expects photographers, fame, glory and free stuff.

I've ridden with someone who's ridden with the STW lot.

I still boast about it, but as of yet have not used it to gain any sexual favours.

beating off wannabe riding mates with sticks?

are sticks your own personal preference or just something special for STW towers adventures?

As a warning to others. We don't want to be reading about Operation STWTowers in 20 years time.

I once rode with someone, twice removed from actually knowing one of the blokes at STW.. he may have been drunk though..

Or it could have been the Office Dog.

Can we have an exclusive t-shirt for those of us who HAVE ridden with the STWTowers crew?

The STW crew didn't manage to beat me off

If you want to meet Dan Lloyd, I've found that UK airports during grand tours are a good bet. Between me and a mate, we've seen him 4 times now.

It's a shame that only the office juniors are still in the office today. With all the others jet-setting around, they'll have to take ont he beating off for the rest of the office. Think of Wil's injured shoulder!!!

I've got one of the highest post counts and I'm a P. I wonder if that would get me onto a ride? Not that I'm asking, I don't go up there very often, I don't even know where Todmorden is.

Never been to Todmorden. I often think it must be a bit like Royston Vasey, and STW Towers is the Shop where they keep the " Precious things!!"

For all people have been making jokes about it, I quite like Todmorden.

I also liked Todmorden and it is in some beautiful countryside. Some of the inhabitants I am not so keen on (and I don't mean the lovely STW crew)

To be fair they were very friendly (the other inhabitants) when I went, got a lovely welcoming high six.

A decade ago I was introduced to a very tall and slim person with spectacles and a bicycle of gate like proportions as someone from STW. Resisting the temptation to say "are you the **** who keeps banning me?", pleasant bicycle related small talk followed.
