news from your friends at Google...

His latest musings on the direction of Planet Google also offer bad news for people who like to think or make decisions. "I actually think most people don't want Google to answer their questions," he claims. "They want Google to tell them what they should be doing next."
Google governor Eric Schmidt.

mmmmok 🙁

oh well if they continue fuxking up their services (google images is a prime example) I'll have no further use for them, I was suprised to see Bing Image search is actually better than googles offering, makes you wonder.

The recent changes to Google Images have revolutionised the eternal quest for niche porn.

Eh didn't Google Images recently get much better (image previews and lightbox style image)??

Eh? It has more functionality now, and it's quicker to use (ajax page updates, so don't have to flick between pages). You can also do clever things like filter by images having faces in, or images drawn in line-art style and so on.

??? Seems much better to me? Faster, more results, rollover preview. Whats not to like?

er, my results jump straight to 'page 2 of X,XXX,XXX' with no way of seeing what's on page 1, or any other page.

when i select 'switch to basic version' - my results start at page 1, and at the bottom i can click on arrows to see the other pages of results.

and i see fewer results per 'screen'.

not happy.

Eh? Do you not see something like the image in this article:
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/ooh-ahh-google-images-presents-nicer.html

All the results are on one page now, you should just need to scroll down to get more results.

Are you blocking JavaScript or something weird like that?

Much prefer Google images now. Maybe it's because it is 'different'?

Oh, what time shall I expect the rabble with the torches 'round at my house? I'll have the kettle on 🙂

I don't get on with the current google images at all, I've stopped using it. I hate the annoying popping up of images. I just want a simple, clear image search laid out in pages so I can remember what page they were on without scrolling about like a nutter.

Not my cup of tea.

I don't want Google to tell me what I should be doing next. I use peppermint flavoured vodka, prescription painkillers and a ouija board for that. So mind your own business, google.

Doesn't matter - but it's the "stuff" that makes the page work properly.

My second guess is that you are using an ancient browser that Google no longer supports (Internet Explorer 6?)

My third guess is that you have some God awful "Internet security" software installed that prevents it from working properly.

My fourth and final guess is that it works just fine and is a PEBCAK error.
