Hi Everyone,

Apologies for the interruption however I would very much appreciate it if you could help me with some research I am doing for my final year dissertation!

I’m a third year student at Staffordshire University and my dissertation is based around the effects (or possibly lack of) that GPS applications, such as ‘Strava’, are having on the Mountain Biking community and the trails that they use. If you have a few minutes to spare (it doesn’t matter if you use these applications or not!) it would be a great help if you could fill out my simple online questionnaire, it only has 10 questions and they’re mostly multiple choice!

Thank-you for your responses,
Greg

completed. I live in Stoke greg if you need any mtber mates for a ride shout me up, email in profile. I try and get out 2/3 times a week, although it's mostly rural road and track weather rather than hanchurch and cannock.

Done,

Interesting subject area, although FWIW I think Strava's impact is greatly exaggerated, but good luck with your findings

Done.

Some sample bias for you to consider: if you are recruiting survey responses from an internet MTB forum you have a bias towards:

(i) People who are comfortable with technology (and possibly even "like" tech).
(ii) People who are quite serious about their MTBing.

Questions were better than usual - but you ask "trail centres" but ignore the question on how much MTB people ride in "the wild". Potentially any strava damage is worse away from centres where mitigation can be designed in.

Just some points to ponder...

Done, and in super quick time as I cut some questions out to finish quicker! 😀
Not really, good luck!

In my opinion riders have always cut corners and widened trails since forever. I put it down to rubbish and lazy riding more than anything.

Easy there poly - I have seen dissertations with less original thought in than you have just expressed. Make the kids work for it !
