Yeah, so, last night whilst boxing my shoulder decided to leave its normal home and hangout with my ribs for a few hours. following the pleasure of experiencing my own job from a patients perspective, I'm now fully strapped up and left in pain, waiting for my fracture clinic appointment.

How long is healing going to take? I'm a bad patient and i asked google, who suggested anything from 3 weeks to six months to never fully recovering! I've never been so bored and its been less than 24 hours! I can't ride a bike, I can't play guitar, I can't go to the gym, I can't dress myself! Grrrrr!

Rant over, all things considered I'm very lucky and I can enjoy some much needed time off work, not doing anything that I love.

I was in a sling for 3 1/2 weeks and off the bike for about 6 in total.

My only advise would be to keep it immobilised for as long as the docs say, otherewise it will keep popping out requireing surgery.

Try buttering a slice of bread with one arm strung up. 😈

Sounds pretty bad but all depends on a variety of factors such as damage to the cartilage, time taken to put back in etc etc.

Mine took around 6 months to sort itself out, then I had to have an operation and all the ensuing physios etc around another 6 months. I now have three screws holding the cartilage into the socket.

And unfortunately will never be the same, with around 80% flexibility but day to day stuff is ok, it's just if I have to over extend.
