my new Ikea DW appears to have only a hot input. Instructions are not clear but it is red. Is this correct?

Yes.
Our hotpoint only has a cold feed (blue)(so does the new washing machine), and heats the water internally.

I know they can have only cold inputs my question is whether they can have only hot inputs.
