While I umm and ahh about what to do about my broken PVR situation I am thinking about plugging the laptop into the telly.
Laptop (which is pretty new) has the obvious trapezium shaped monitor output as well as a video-out round 7-pin one.
TV has a "PC in" (same as the monitor output connection) and a spare HDMI.
Question is - what is the best way to connect them would people say? Sounds doesn't come down either of those connections I presume?
Thanks in advance for any intel, this is the sort of thing that I find hard to get my thick head round!! Cheers...
Just use the VGA one.
If your telly has audio inputs - normally red and white phono type plugs, you can get a mini jack to phono lead going from your laptop headphone output to get sound. Otherwise you'll have to plug it into a stereo or put up with laptop sound.
VGA as in the regular monitor cable connection?
Yup. I've got a DVI output in my laptop and a DVI input on my HD telly - I can't really tell the difference between using that and using the normal VGA one.
Cool, just tried all that, remembered I had a 3.5mm jack to red/white phone lead so used that and my monitor cable.
Picture works (really well) but no sound 🙁
Am downloading the TV's manual now to see what's what.
