i like listening to 6 music. i can listen through my pc, freeview on telly, or virgin box through telly. so.........if my telly plays through an amp and then my hifi speakers, is there any need to buy a DAB player? is a digital signal from a virgin box for instance, as good a signal as you can get, and then it depends on quality of amp and speakers?

that also leads me onto the next question. if it is, then does the same go for FM stations, radio 1 etc? will the digital channel through my telly be as good if not better than a tuner, and as long as the digital telly signal goes through a decent amp to decent speakers, will the sound quality be as good?

thanks

Seems to me that the digital signal through your cable telly would likely be better quality than DAB radio because there is higher bandwidth available. Certainly better than FM. FM radio's not that good

There are some folk who would say that good FM reception is much better than the DAB signal. It's a bit of a CD vs Vinyl argument though TBH.

There you go - http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/articles/DAB-vs-FM-sound-quality.php

EDIT: For the OP, unless you are an audiophile, you can ditch the tuner IMHO.

thats encouraging. so really, theres no need for me to have a tuner at all then, as im certainly not an audiophile. as long as my music sounds a bit 'beefy' then im happy 🙂
