We will be in touch
apparently these are (or will be) nationwide numbers for non-emergency police (101) and health (111) services.

Just came across them in an article I was reading - never heard of them before. Are they common knowledge that has passed me by?
Dave
I've seen them before, think it was advertised. I see it mainly on the GMP twitter feed
Yup. Avon & Somerset Constabulary have just started using them. Dead useful.
Seems like it'll be a good idea once it's national. I'd never heard of it.
yeah, I thought they sounded like a good idea. They were mentioned in that Matt Delito police blog that someone linked earlier in terms that you would have to be a complete idiot to not use them instead of calling 999.
Pretty sure I'm not a complete idiot, but I had never heard of them at all.
Dave
I think it's a great idea but probably one of the things that our children will know much better than us. Has 112 replaced 999 as the European emergency number yet?
Why are we replacing 999?
(i'm not bothered if we are, but am I missing some really obvious reason by 111 or 101 are better?) 😕
If I understand correctly 101 is the NON-emergency code, ie. when you just want to phone your local police but can't be arsed looking up the number. 111 is the same for health
999 is still the emergency number but as 112 is the emergency number in the rest of europe it sort of made sense to adopt it as well
i think...
