Not sure if anyone might know - I've got a chrome 'faux vintage' desk fan thats a bit squeeky so thought I'd strip it down and give it a bit of a service...

But I can't get part the outer casing off - the stalk that sits the motor unit into the base is stopping it..any ideas how to get this bit off?

ย

Thanks for any suggestions!

not that I can see...there's a hole stright trough the post that you can't see in the pic, so maybe I can push a thin screwdriver through it and use it as a lever, but I'm not sure thats the correct way forward.

ย

The post itself is tight, I can't turn it, or the turn coller thing with pliers...

I would say using a thin screwdriver is a good idea

Its not an uncommon concept.
