How big are you making your portfolios for employment, I'm thinking less is more maximum of 10 projects well presented.
Also are you including images in your CV, as I have had success failure with both methods.
I'm on the look out to change my job to get a bit more ££££ as no I'm not just in it for the love I want to have a life too. 😆
10 to 12 pieces, swap and change putting in work relevant to the company where you are being interviewed. Start and end with your best pieces. Good luck 🙂
also it might be worthwhile having sketches/scamps etc to back-up your work and dhow your creative thinking/processes.
No examples of work with your cv unless they specify in the advert.
As mastiles says 10-12 pieces and change your work depending on what kind of work the company specialises in. Also I sometimes take along one of my sketch books to show my creativity and versatility.
For CV's, it depends really? For example if you get approached by a recruitment agency they tend to just want to be supplied with a plain 'Word' document *shudder* CV and then I've attached a couple of pdf's of work examples if they ask, but if you apply direct to a design agency I don't see any harm with a well designed CV - a friend of mine did a really cool DVD pack with his CV enclosed.
Definately a few projects chosen to suit client with extra material to back up one quality project. Most people will want a well laid out a4 text based cv. Often its the office manager doing the first sort through and generally won't be impressed by some over designed image heavy design extravaganza. Give a few taster images if they are asked for. 'Really cool dvd packs' are normally for new grads without much commercial work to show.
He produced a DVD pack as he ended up branding himself and setting up his own company, so it also acted as direct marketing.
So long as the CV/DVD/kite or whatever medium they use to communicate with is all spelt correctly and uses basic punctuation etc. correctly, I don't mind how we are contacted. Way too many sloppy letters ( or more often emails) are sent to us.
