Right, I went to a dentist some moons ago. OK, about 3 years ago, and was told I needed 2 recent fillings removed and re-doing and 2 new fillings that were never mentioned by a previous dentist some months earlier. As they were all visible I wanted them to be white but I was told none could be done on the NHS and so the bill would come to nearly £400. I baulked and it came at the same time as a massive increase in workload and it got forgotten. Fast forward to now and I've got an issue and need a dentist but I don't really want to go back to that one as I'm wary of their super shiny expensive looking surgery and propensity to do xrays, cleans, polishes etc at a moments notice - they just seem too keen.
But the problem is I don't know anyone around here I'd trust with deciding what dentist to go to, so is there any way of getting dentist reviews/ratings? I want a good job doing and I don't mind having all the bells and whistles done providing I'm not ripped off or done dodgily.
Any help finding the best way to find a dentist sharpish appreciated!

Is that a sane option or likely to end in tears for being cheap? Can you register with one if it's not within your region (i.e. I work in Glasgow but it's 10 miles from my home address, I could find one there if I can)
Looks like they only do emergency work though.
Their website confirms they'll only do emergency work for people with no registered dentist. I'm not sure a painful tooth is an emergency. Shame, I quite fancied being a test subject with an overlord watching progress.

No, when I first signed up I went to 3 local dentists to check them out and they all were happy to sign me up as an NHS patient? I don't live in the big smoke, sanity prevails in most other locations 😀
