Well, if you really want to know why...

Years go, when I decided to come out as trans etc, STW was the first "normal" place online I started using my new name. Back then, it was very important to me that I wrote it - like some sort of need to express my identity and not be mistaken as anything other than Rachel.

It's not so important to me these days, I'm very happy with myself, but it is some sort of muscle-memory that just means I nearly always write it. That's all.

Rachel

I assumed it was some clever automatic thing you'd set up but you actually type it, apparently without fail? - that's genuinely remarkable

When we rebranded our shop it took 3 years to come up with a name.

How long did it take to choose your name?

I'm inherently a lazy person - I kept the same initials as before so I didn't have to learn a new signature. That made it easier to choose. When I learned that Rachel meant "little sheep", the choice was obvious.

Look up 'dead naming,'

Being addressed as your former identity, whether deliberately or through thoughtlessness can be very hurtful.

I'm not getting on a high horse here either; I have a friend who transitioned (M->F) recently and I constantly have to mentally correct myself when talking or thinking about them and imagine that it will take time for me to start instinctively start thinking of them by their new name.

So I can't really blame Rachel for taking every opportunity to remind people.
