I think that you're local to me and I use Loughborough Kia (at Mountsorrel)

First two services have been well-priced with an efficient service, loan car paid per mile driven

I find Toyota garages to be cheaper than the independents for me, plus they include a courtesy car whilst it's being done, wash it afterwards and the price they pay for parts like replacement bulbs and wipers is way cheaper than anything I could buy.

Timba - you're right - it is indeed Mountsorrel.
Maybe they didn't like my voice on the phone and they did like yours.
I wouldn't say £435 was reasonable…when someone actually does more for less than half the price.
In fact that's taking the piss.
Kia Mountsorrel can bugger off ❗

Hmmm. Mine's a 1.4 Venga, 1st annual service <£130 and 2nd <£230 Yours will obviously use different parts but I'm surprised at such a difference

I always use main dealer on the Lotus, prices are advertised on their website and I've never needed extras adding on. Looks like it's cheaper to run than the Kia Ceed owned by the OP.

You've got a good main dealer then - I used to get my Elise serviced at an independant (ex Lotus dealer but for some reason they got dropped / chose to drop out) as it was roughly a third of the price of the dealer. Who also sold Maserati and ferrari and were quite sniffy about dealing with Elsies 😀

My Ford dealer have always taken the piss- like offering to charge 2 hours labour purely to read fault codes- except last time I took it in for a mystery ailment, they threw diagnostics at it, pressure tested the cooling system, diagnosed a minor fault, the main issue inexplicably went away while they were testing- no charge at all. I imagine they'll be back to being terrible next time though.

Took our Focus into our local Ford dealer for MOT and service recently. Had a discount code which I quoted when booking it in, and got a price for the service and MOT. Dropped the car off and they gave me a much higher cost, so I said when I booked it in there was a discount code "Prove It", and it's a higher price than I was quoted, "Prove It".
I'm afraid that it's the last time I'm going to them. Still waiting for the "customer feedback" form so we can mark their customer experience at 0.
They also have an amusing tendency to say things like the discs and brakes are completely worn out and definitely need changing within the next 500 miles. But the first time they said that was 25,000 miles ago, and the following year it was never mentioned. So as a result I don't really trust them either.

It's interesting getting a lease car serviced - they never seem to find anything wrong with mine because they know that the lease company try to resist paying out (e.g. tyres need to be on the limit before replacements are authorsed). My Ford has really worn discs - if it was my car I'm sure that they'd be telling me they need replacing plus the usual bumpf about tyres being half worn.

Our own car is servced by an indy who I trust and was sad enough to research. BMW dealers offer reduced costs for older cars but our doesn't go there (unless the KDS alignment is on offer).

The posh, glitzy showrooms, free snacks and drinks need to be paid for somehow and it's not through car sales (or leases).

I took my Audi to the same main dealer for 8 years from new. I never paid more than £250 per service, bar the cam belt change and tyres and for those they were no more expensive than ATS. Never once was i told anything needed doing, just we will look again at the discs in 12 months etc. I have to admit my experiences with other dealerships has not been so pleasurable.

Well I had my v70 serviced yesterday for the £350 we agreed. In fact they charged slightly less as they couldn't get the invoice bits to add up to the agreed sum. 🙂

There was some fawning, a nice cup of coffee, a loan car, my car delivered back to the office, a wash and vac and they're going to pick the car up again today to finish updating the nav. The bastard thing takes 4 discs @ 1.5 hrs per disc and it shuts down every 20 mins if the engine isn't running... Oh, they serviced it as well and left a complementary tin of sweets on the passenger seat.

That's got to be worth the £100 uplift over a greasy indie...? 🙂
