May need to head to Reading to pick something up - what family fun can we have in the area that's relatively inexpensive (i.e. not Legoland etc)

We did a session here as a 'team' thing from work.  Obviously it's massively weather dependant.  We did it in biting cold wind but at least it was dry, and everyone forgot the cold once they had kestrels and owls on their arms.

If the weather's decent you could hire a canoe and go for a paddle along the Thames. http://www.thamescanoehire.com

It's not widely known, but you can go and see the Bayeux Tapestry. OK it's a replica, but it's in the Reading Museum and well worth a visit.

Then you can go to AW Cycles in Caversham 😀

Like craft beer? Wild Weather Brewery in Silchester. For a bit of culture stagger round the walls of the Roman town afterwards.

craft beer

better would be the west berks taproom (epecially as they're just bringing back Snake Oil - a lovely 7.5% DIPA).

When done, you can go to bucklebury farm park, and then hang out various pseudo royalty in the neighbouring villages.

Lived about 500 yards away from this for a decade and somehow managed to resist the urge.

Go to Windsor and be mildly disappointed?

Or get on a train. The big smoke is only 25 minutes away. You could be going around the Natural History Museum inside an hour.

Dinton Pastures is nice for a walk, coffee and playground depending on weather and kids age.

Also Reading climbing centre is good fun if weather is rubbish (depending on kids age)

Walking by the river between Caversham and Reading Bridges (On Caversham side) is good if weather nice.

Friends with kids always seemed to enjoy the Vyne.

When are you going, Mol? If you are going alone, I could use it as an excuse to go myself, as I have a friend there I want to see.

By the time you've driven in and out again along the M4/A33 you should just about have time for a sandwich in the middle I reckon.

Molly,

Just for info. I work in Reading and i'm heading to BPW on the 20th. Via the services at the end of the M4.... So passing by you.

Don't know if that may help you out.

I'll have the Mondeo so plenty of space and no passengers until coming back.
