Tried every suggestion I've found on google but to no avail . apart from changing the laptop any suggestions ? Completely out of the blue the text appears backwards ie google would appear as elgoog.Only happens very occasionally . Asked this question a while back but got nowhere . any new ideas
thanks
Bill
Faulty left cursor key? What's going on on screen when it does it? Is there a lag / delay, does the cursor flit about?
I can't say it's something I've ever come across.
When you say text appears backwards, or when you are typing?
Screen shot might help.

just like in my thread title posted earlier . I typed "how do you watch" and "how do you hctaw " appeared. No flitting or lag .
Does it happen when other people use the keyboard..?
can't believe it's the keyboard at fault - all it does is send the signal and surely that's one keystroke at a time ?
Is it in all programmes - browser, word, ... ?
There must be some lag, otherwise the keyboard doesn’t know what word you’re typing... ie if you’d mistyped watch as watcj, it would have to do jctaw, but it wouldn’t have known to put the j first?
Does spellcheck pick it up?
When it happens again just look at your laptop screen via a mirror.
Simply write everything backwards from now on.
It'll come up right then innit.

It'll be a keylogger of sorts and 5he laptop is being controlled by a foreign person...
It does sound a bit virussy..and not one I've seen.
I'd be tempted to backup personal docs and do a clean install. I assume you've done the obligatory malware bytes and Ccleaner scan?
Given it's not entirely clear what the issue is.
Hmmm. Years ago I worked with a guy who thought it was fun to do this sort of thing to your computer when you nipped out for a brew. I don't know what he did but when you came back you'd find that whatever you typed came out as something else - something sweary, obscene, back to front or whatever tickled his pea brain. You never noticed it till you read back your report or letter. Or sent it to the client.
Or maybe it's just crumbs under the keys. Happens a lot to me
It's probably been set to right to left text direction, which is normally for Arabic support.

Press left ctrl and left shift
Are you possessed? Someone trying to get a message to you? Note all the backwards words and see if they make a sentence.
What mouse are you using? Is it wired or wireless? Does it have a scroll wheel?

It sounds a bit-virus-from-the-90s-y to be honest. It's the sort of behaviour I'd expect from a DOS-based virus! I'd be surprised if it found anything, but a Malwarebytes scan can't hurt in any case.
No flitting or lag .
There has to be something, surely. Otherwise in your example, you'd type "w" and get an "h", "a" and get a "c" and so forth. The computer cannot possibly know what word you're typing before you type it. Does it initially appear correct and then change?
I find it very weird indeed that it'll type one word in its entirety backwards but then keep the cursor position at the end of the word. That's just bizarre. I can only assume that it's a fault in the keyboard itself, there's some form of buffer that's being corrupted or some such. I'd be curious to see whether it did it with an external keyboard plugged in.

Auto-replace in a spell checker, I'd imagine. Which is plausibly what's happening here.

A very good question indeed.
done numerous malware scans and found nought . It's not a setting as it's so intermittent. I don't tend to use much apart from browsing /email etc and yes seems to do it on all browsers.what it does is that the letter typed moves to the right instead of staying to the left ..followed by the next one and so on
Does it initially appear correct and then change?
First thing I would be checking is does it do it when typing in Notepad
Then check in Notepad when running in safe mode
I suspect neither of those will make a difference but it's always the first point to check.
And finally check if it happens when using an external keyboard
This will help you isolate if it is a physical keyboard problem
Is it repeatable enough that you could boot into a Linux rescue USB stick and see if it still happens there?
Have you used an ouija board lately or been involved in any casual devil worship (pranced around in your underpants wearing goatskin chaps and a set of horns on your head).
If not i don’t know what else it could be, sorry.
dont think it initially appears correct but i can't type and watch the screen at the same time. I'm pretty sure it just moves whatever letter you type to the right . soon reverts back to normal though. Often happens when i'm typing faster than normal.

Are you typing 'locally' or on a vpn or something.. That can cause input lag, but not words typed backwards.
Have you done a full malware bytes scan, and a full Ccleaner scan /cleanup?

CCleaner isn't going to achieve anything, and in the wrong hands can cause damage. It has its place but I stopped recommending it to Joe Public years ago.
Yes re MB and AV.
