Our 1 yo daughter is retching really badly of late - full monty retching sound, we jump up expecting an almighty hurl, but nothing ever comes up. I'm wondering what might be causing this - Anyone experienced this with one of their kids? The child minder mentioned it today as being pretty out of the ordinary (she obv sees a lot of kids).

The bairn does rage-vomit at night, which is possibly related. She hates being put down in her cot - if I put her down and just left her she would scream and almost immediately throw up. Not the most healthy situation ISTM.

Does she have a cold? My daughter used to retch with all the gunge from her nose going down the back of her throat.

Acid reflux possibly? But tbh GP would be my recommendation, if it's out of the ordinary never take a chance. Better to look like an overbearing parent than take a chance with your little ones health.

Teething? My twins usually settled after a little teething gel.

Booze is the answer.

All that 'You can't give booze to a baby' stuff is so old fashioned..

Thanks all. She is teething atm, as it goes - We'll swing by the GP.
Can you settle down acid reflux with meals and drink choices etc as you would with an adult?

My eldest had that for bout half a day, took her to see the Dr as I wasn't sure if she had anything stuck. He examined her to make sure and then told me it's not unusual they sometimes do this. Youngest did it a few times.

You can get infant gaviscon from GP on prescription. Our six month old has had it on and off since a month old for reflex.

Sure it goes without saying but....DO NOT USE THE ADULT STUFF!

Definitely one for the GP this. The cot screaming may be behavioural rather than medical. Had this more mildly than you with our eldest and with our youngest over daytime naps. We adjusted routine to get them in cot sooner when looking tired with a consistent pattern to how we put them down eg go into room holding baby, close up curtains, cuddle in chair, put in sleeping bag, say goodnight exit. This might not help if you already do. This kind of thing but this is my only pearl of fatherly wisdom. Oh and always have a spare lightning mcqueen toy.
