Trying to help a son of a friend do up a cv for a welding job. How best to pad out working part time in retail for Halfords in a CV for this? Cheers
Dealing with the public, trusted handling money.
Can he weld already? If so, where did he learn & what did he weld? Any quals or courses?
If he can't weld, surely it's an apprenticeship type affair - which is a little different than a 'professional' CV?
Either way, a decent covering letter will show that he's not a muppet and will help get him in the door if the CV is too light I'd have thought
2nd a good covering letter, it will put him above the masses of copy and paste that apply.
Go for a simple STAR
Situation Position that he was in, with responsibilities and scope for self management
Task Basically, his job role, complexity, scope, decisions he had to take
Action Things that he did that made a difference or improvements for the business or customer
Result After his input what was improved, developed or changed

Aye he can weld but no solid qualification but applied for a job centre type government funded course. Already got his covering letter more or less sorted just trying to give a good account of working at Halfords.
