...why am I surprised when it's just crap?

My partner has a electronic booking reading device, a book (released 2012) she wants is listed/has reviews but is not available to buy on the site (on co.uk or com).

So 1st I had to fight through the useless options available for support, there no option at any point for "my question/fault is not listed", so had to pick some vaguely (in the same universe) similar section.
They contact me promptly... great... saying interesting can we chat online/phone, about it?
I say no I'm busy, but what more info do you need?
Now, apparently as my account does not have this device registered to it (I did say this originally when I contacted them), they can't talk to me... so as my partner is a technophobe & will not talk to them, this will not be resolved#. I am not asking for anything, just asking them to list a item correctly, ffs I've emailed them using my account. If I have access to "this account", I have access to purchase stuff, as they very helpfully keep all of my card details available.
Yet again great customer service.

and BREATH... it's the small things that will eventually give me heart attack.

# well I might just **** em and go download the whole series free, but I tried as g/f is more honest than me

Simple answer, get your partner to call them to verify her identity etc and then get her to hand the phone over to you.

why would a technophobe have an electronic book reader registered in their name but not talk to someone on the phone about it?

As above, with my kids, for telephone banking they have to talk to the people at the other to verify that I am allowed to discuss their accounts but that's their only involvement.

...cause she's a busy working, currently on her way to wales & i'm at home. Let alone the fact that I don't want to spend hours on the phone, not when I'm so busy

Also what to say the site say "this item is not available", I've said this in the email. Other than checking is is "now available" what will a telephone call add to this equation?
Do you really think they'll fix it while I'm on the phone?

Crap customer services aside, the chances are the book you want was available and was sold previously, which is why it's got reviews. But it will have since been pulled by the publisher.

So think of it like a bricks&mortar bookshop that once sold a book and has a poster up advertising it, but now can't get stock from the publisher.

Just buy it from somewhere else.

interesting, any idea why it would have been pulled? (not specifcally this book, but why would a book be pulled by the publisher?)
It's a collective volume of books 7-8-9, the authors up to book 18 otherwise.

Zippy,

There is no point defending your actions on here chief and getting yourself any more wound up. Lets be honest you could get yourself mugged while walking an old dear across the road and there would be some weapon on here who would try and tell you it was 'your fault'.

If its any consolation mate I get you and think that zero common sense has been applied, especially considering this is about an electronic book not a bank account , however don't expect to get much sympathy off anyone else.....

Its got that bad I saw a guy post on here about a month ago post that a bike shop had charged him to fit expensive spokes to a wheel build and just fitted the old ones he supplied originally and just changed the nipples to deceive him. Once again half the forum called him a liar or said it was his fault.

Gotta love some of the clientele on Singletrack....

All the best mate,
Lee.

Lee TBH I had just expected the thread to slowly dribble down the page and disappear into the big recycling can, that must exist some-where on the STW servers. I don't let ppl get under my skin (for too long), otherwise wwaswas would be wearing a z1ppy suit 😯

and in all honest I know I'm to blame, for not obeying "the system", & could have asked her* to email them (*I still could, I know all her passwords after all). It's just companies spend the minimum as possible on CS and then wonder why they have rubbish reputations.

All sorts of reasons why a publisher might pull. There might be an error, the terms of their contract with the author might change or expire, they might be issuing a new edition. Happens quite a lot.
