Wombles, although a protected species, are now extinct in the UK due to the aggressive and illegal actions of the groundskeepers of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
They can no longer be found either underground or overground.

Sorry - but it’s not a fact unless you end the post with FACT! (all caps, exclamation mark).

Everyone loses their shit over Wombles, but save a thought for the humble and noble Haggis?

The Common really isn’t that close to the tennis

I think they were up moved on for their pro green agenda. Recycling is one thing but once they started spouting about net zero they had to go

Red Wombles haven't been seen there for years, not since the Bulgarian Grey Wombles arrived and drove them out

I thought Haggis (Haggai? Haggises?) had left legs longer than the right to make circumnavigating hill easier?

The Common Cormorant or shag
Lays eggs inside a paper bag.
The reason you will see no doubt
It is to keep the lightning out.
But what these unobservant birds
Have never noticed is that herds
Of wandering bears may come with buns
And steal the bags to hold the crumbs.

Today I learnt the game of Monopoly had quite a significant role in helping thousands of British POWs escape during WW2.

Another one.

Misheard names or comments are frequently the basis for songs.  “Seven Nation Army” is famously a mishearing of “Salvation Army”.

Less well known is that Neil Young overheard heard his road crew discussing breakfast preferences and mishearing a nameless roadie indicating his pastry of choice, “I could be happy the rest of my life with a cinnamon swirl”, has given us one of the great songs from Mr Young.

During the 80s, home economics resulted in so many adapt sock darners that big sock lobbied to remove sewing from the curriculum. This resulted in a holey new foothold in for many sock manufacturers. FACT!

For males it's the left leg, right for females which means that they travel around the hills in opposite directions only meeting and breeding occasionally, hence why the species is in danger.
