I live in a flat with a communal area and the guy next door has been putting notes through the door complaining about where i leave my shoes! He is threatening to call the police or fire brigade!

I have tried pretending to be a complete mentalist to get rid of him but i don't think its working.

Any Ideas?

Where /do/ you leave your shoes? Perhaps he has a point?

Put slugs in your shoes. When he picks them up to annoy you he'll get a nasty surprise.

Apparently passive-aggressive notes are a known fire hazard - perhaps call the fire brigade?

PS. Put the insulation and plasterboard back. He knows you're listening and it's a bit of an effort to keep up the pretense of having a love life.

Wee in your shoes before he steals them, which is what he's going to do next.

Superglue them to the floor. He is bound to 'accidentally' kick them down the stair well.

Get a giant shoelace and attach it to the hall lightshade, buy some random shoes from the charity shop and lace them on to this giant lace dangling from the ceiling. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Get a cat.
Train it to poo [s]in shoes[/s] on doormats (often they don't need any training).
Hide your own [s]shoes[/s] doormat.
Sorted.

He's obviously mentally ill, so I'd contact social services and see if they can get him assessed and possibly sectioned....

Buy more shoes. TK MAXX is good for getting them cheap. See how far you can push him before he snaps!

Leave some pink fluffy slippers out or try setting fire to your shoes.

Or, read your lease and see what it says about communal areas. (Boring I know)

Use a ladder and nail your shoes and doormat to the hall ceiling. Then glue the umbrella stand (if one exists) up there. Then paint full-size replicas of all the doorways also onto the ceiling and glue some matching wooden moulding around the edges of the painted doors. Finish off with a mirrored image of the staircase in 3d (if you have enough time before sun-up)

No idea if this will solve the root problem, but it may reinvigorate the alternate thread.
