My W7 laptop hangs on entering sleep sometimes, and seems to always crash on hibernation. So I have two questions:
1) How likely is this to bugger up my filesystem?
2) Can anyone recommend a crash dump analyser?

1) How long's a piece of string? Anecdotally, I had a Vista machine with a faulty HDD, which would suddenly freeze once or twice a day resulting in me resorting to the old power button. When I got a replacement disk (after about a year of this), for gits and shiggles I tried to clone the old partition onto the new drive. It survived not only this but a subsequent in-situ upgrade to Windows 7 without missing a beat.
Based on that I'd posit that NT6-based systems are considerably more robust than their predecessors, so you'll probably be ok. On the other hand, it might die on its arse irrecoverably tomorrow.
2) Windbg is what you need. I'll warn you now though, it's pretty low-level and not for the faint-hearted. I don't mind taking a minidump apart if you want to mail it to me.

I generally don't use hibernate, but it can only be in standby for so long. Plus there's some silly nonsense about company security policy.....

Worth just looking at the event log first. Mine had the same issues recently and the logs were full of nvidia driver errors. Removed / reinstalled gpu driver and all is good.
