's funny, just had that conversation here in our office. The people I actually know who actually do shoot, canoe or do Judo are no more middle class than yer average cyclist.

Oh, hang on

Cav reckoned rider error. Sounds similar to when a car fishtails.

@druidh

Does the second rider's front wheel actually have to be behind the front rider's then as they cross the line?

So will that turn VP into a gibbering wreck or spur her on to make good later on?

edit looked like Varnish backed off a bit early too

Pendleton cocked up and took over Varnish before she'd fully crossed the line. Whoops!

A bit harsh when the commissaires have discretion on their side.

Not so sure myself. VP clearly a lot faster than Varnish. When you are dealing with 100ths of seconds it cant be fair to allow any discression that could give an advantage?

So I'm not in the UK so sorry if this has been asked and answered. But why is the track so fast? Is it just the athletes and equipment has improved? Or have they treated the track with a different material?

Damn, such a shame.

On the empty seats thing you could get the £325 ones (or thereabouts) this morning on the ticket site, I guess they are unwilling to discount the top class seats so we're still seeing empty rows.

why is the track so fast

They got me in to sand and finish it. I've used a special lacquer in certain spots that only Team GB know. 😉
