I bought two black metal plant stands off ebay from a guy in Bolton. Now, I can drive up and get them, or have my brother pick them up for me, but I was wondering about a courier.
Can anyone recommend a courier that would pick up something for me and bring it to my house in Cardiff? How much would such a service cost (ball park figure)?

Paisley Freight will pick up most things and are pretty reasonably priced.
There're a few online services like AnyVan that'll allow you to post jobs for local couriers / men with vans to quote on. I've used them before for stuff like you're talking about and worked out well.
Try Shiply, UK network of “men with vans” and we use them for odd shaped chunks of wood and stuff.. always been very reliable.
Just post a request quote on their website and wait to be contacted..
