There seem to be plenty advertised but because of this it'a hard to choose, hence the need for recommendation

Cornwall seconded if you like wintery sea. We spent Christmas here last year, in Evergreen

Right on the coast, lovely little cove accessed down the cliff path. Nice little bike ride down the road to pubs/pasties in Porthleven. The cottage is basic, but nicely done. Just beware multiple low beams/doors if anyone's over 6'.

I used (Insert chosen county)Country Cottages. Got a lovely little place in Norfolk for a week. Unavailable over new year unfortunately. You can filter by size and there are some surprising bargains.

An alternative (which myself and some friends have booked this year) is maybe try northern France. Some big properties in great surroundings, and on our experience, quite a bit cheaper even with the crossing/travel invloved.

Sykes cottages are national, and reasonably priced,I like Northumberland myself, but we're (12 of us)going to Skipton the weekend before Christmas,so our normal New Year break is off.

if there is plenty available then go for it

we use cottages4u quite a bit. you can often find a direct contact for the owner and get a better price than advertised online.

we stayed here or there abouts and the pub in St Teath up the road is a cracking night out on new year. They line the entire pub with tinfoil and millions of christmas decorations every year for charity and it was one of the best new years we've had, great locals (we barely paid for a drink all night)
