[Closed] Contract to Fixed Term

Following the earlier contracting thread, my current client has asked if I could move over to a 1 year fixed term as they want to cut cost etc. I like working for them and have to get to Europe 3 days a month but work from home most of the time.
The PAYE is higher than I ever earned when I was PAYE but the one worry is there is now a 3-month notice period. Would that concern many soon to be ex-contractors?

3 months both sides?
TBH though i'd be surprised if it was enforceable as you'll have been working for them less than a year.

Do you plan on leaving? If not crack on fixed term works if both people want that, you get stability so do they.

Id make the decision on pay and pension. 3 months is ridiculous and likely to be unenforceable.
What’s the cut in pay going fixed term vs day rate?

the pay cut is about 45% but coming up to the period of uncertainty it might be a chance to bed down and ride the storm out. It just might be difficult to get back into contracting with such s a lengthy notice period.

If you know your contract ends in 12 months then you just need to line something up for the end of that? After 9 months your notice period starts and is up at the end - if your thinking of jumping half way through then a fixed term contract probably ain't for you!!

Do you reckon they'd drop you within 6 months if you didn't switch?

Even accounting for all that lovely paid holiday, the pension contributions and all the other free stuff?
