Is it 12 months or 24 months? Shop says it's 12 am sure this is now 24 months EU law.
What sense? 12 months for what? What bit of law?
Do we as consumers have warranty/guarantee on our purchases of 12 or 24 month if goods are faulty or fail. A tv for example.
No. Its about what is reasonable in short - as far as I can see there are no set time limits

TJ Thanks for the link to DERR good stuff and useful links (especially the trades link) had been there but did not find what I was looking for. On my travels ont interweb found the above article (sorry for the source), am lead to believe that EU brought in a 24 month consumer protection guarantee but can't references to it.
I dont know why but I think the 24 month EU thing is for electircal goods! I could be wrong though
The daily Wail story is about the right to return faulty goods for up to two years - in the UK we have this right for up to 5 or 6 yrs. No extra protection.
It totally depends on the product and your circumstances.
Dont just blindly read something on the internet and not consult someone who knows all the fine detail of the law.
Unfortunately alot of these summarys contain the words reasonable, which customers seem to read into in a different way to a lawyer.
Speak to CAB for further relyable advice.
Thanks all for comments it's been helpful. What I'm trying to find it where the 24 month EU thing comes from. Am aware the Sale of Goods Act 1979 was amended in 2002 to bring it in line with latest EU law, this does give us more right on consumer purchase protection (thanks TJ) but am being quoted what is possibly a mythical EU law on on warranties/guarantees of 24 months.
TJ is in the right area. However, do not speak to the CAB for 'reliable' advice with matter like this.
