Bit of a numpty question but I'm a bit out of date with PC matters.
My old desktop PC was connected to the router via an ethernet cable. I've now built a home office which is upstairs and a good distance from the router wo I dont particularly want to be running a long distance of Ethernet.
Is there a way I can make my PC connect to wifi ? some sort of adaptor for example, and if so how does it connect to the PC.

If its old it might not be wifi ready. You buy a card that would fit in the PCI slot. You need to install a driver an then you are done. An easy self upgrade.
An Ethernet extender running through your mains cabling might be a better idea.
A simple usb wifi dongle for the PC should do the trick - around £8 for the simplest ones but more if you want one with a better range using a bigger antenna.
Definitely just get a USB one, no need to open the case up and you can just plug it in. Good ones have aerials that stick out.
