Nope of course not, I think I mentioned 1st class...and having been on both, I think overall 747 1st was nicer than Concorde (perhaps coloured slightly by the Big Fat Smelly B**tard sat next to me on Conc, and by the stewardess with the nice arse and legs plying me with drink all night on the 747).
comparing self loading with Concorde is hardly fair...
I'm not massively upset by the comment, just curious about why you felt the need for it, is all.
Such a shame that we've taken a great step backwards since Speedbird died.I miss that sound and that sight.
too true used to come over twice a day when i was little and lived in reading, always looked ace - whet to heathrow to see that three come into together for the last time - very sad
remember also it did a low fly past with the nose down around Shrewsbury as part of the town 100th flower show - that was really cool, slow, loads of noise and smoke!
But Concorde wasn't 'First', at best it was comparable to the old pre flat-bed Club World.
As for the 'insult' it was a tongue in cheek remark, moron is hardly insulting anyway! Did you not didn't think anyone else would have the experience to comment?
sad to see one stuck at Brooklands, pass it twice a day on the train
moron is hardly insulting anyway!
We're obviously on different wavelengths, then. It's a new experience for me, having some Random calling me a moron for no real reason I can make out. Forgive me.
I sense this isn't going anywhere, I'll bow out.
You made, in my opinion, a moronic statement, ergo you are a moron. It was, as observed, a tongue in cheek comment.
Anywho, don't let the door hit you on the way out ๐
Is the passing of Concorde some sort of national pride let down? Have we built anything since that gives us that same "look what we can do" sense of whats possible in the UK. Am sure (though not certain) that the French don't think of Concorde in the same way but then they still have a country that builds stuff.
Am not trying to be controvercial(?) but there seems to be more than just the passing of a good plane about Concorde.
Anyone who reckons it wasn't technically innovative should read The Concorde Story by Chris Orlebar (I think that's his name).
I don't think anyone is saying that or trying to knock it, but I've got to agree with TJ. Sure it was a step forward in engineering, but it turned out not to be the future of passenger aviation and so in that sense it was a misstep rather than a step forward. It wasn't a step into the next age of air transport.
That's not to take anything away from it, and it's a shame they were grounded.
It used to make the windows rattle in my mums house in the west end of the isle of wight when they opened the engines up and she created a sonic boom. Used to be able to look up and see this white dart streak past high up above. ๐ฅ

That's ok, I called you one too. Two randoms calling you a moron in one day. Whatever next...
Obviously not been here long, he'll get used to it.

It didn't go supersonic until it was past Ireland, it was just really noisy subsonic too!
