Hey,

So Ive been downloading a fair amount of stuff recently on to my laptop. What will happen if I keep downloading more stuff, will my laptop cram up and gradually stop working? I hear people talking about external hard drives etc, how much stuff do you need to have downloaded to make those worth while and how do I know how many films my laptop can hold?

Also I don't even have them on any kinda file or folder right now, what would be the best way of storing them if I was to keep them on my laptop?

Thanks..

insult them

what to do with all my downloaded films etc.

and then ask for help 😉

my 2p - once it starts getting full keep the laptop horizontal to stop all the extra data falling off the disks.

Seriously, keep an eye on your disk usage and if it goes over about 80% consider moving some of the stuff to external media.

You should be/are doing backups of all this stuff anyway, though?

No? You mean like onto a USB or something...

yes. You should either regularly attach an external drive and backup to it or have a network storage device that the laptop can connect to and do it's own backups.

You're very 'eggs in one basket' at the moment - hard drives can fail (mine did last week) and losing everything can cause pain and heartache.

And when you say download of course you mean legally from iTunes and the such, just so it's clear and doesn't get STW HQ into trouble for allowing promotion of piracy.

well if it's iTunes then you can always re download anything following a disaster. You can even chose to not store it locally and re download when you want to view.

you should still do a backup though...

Use Java to back everything up to HTML downsave over RS232. Watch the weight limits too, some can only hold 3kg of films.

*does reverse whistle*

I'd rather see x25 over a PVC.

Watch it. Delete it.

If you ever want to watch it again then download it.
