I'm a capable cook at home, used to chef in my younger days, but this is a bloody nightmare.

It's the Mrs' birthday on Saturday and the family is coming down. I've got at least 2 picky teenagers, 2 under 5s to cater for. That's easy, but amongst the adults I've got the mother in law whos Coeliac, Aunty whos a Veggie and also need to try and please the carnivores and my make it special for my Mrs'.

At the moment I'm either going: Full SpanishTapas and make lots of selections to cater for all/Veggie Lasagne with GF Pasta/Greek-Mousakka with Greek Tapas.

I know we have a lot of foodies on here, any suggestions?

Look at Ottolenghi for interesting and tasty recipes. Ive done the leek fritter several times and that works really well as a starter. Roasted sweet potato is super easy and good if you're going to make a series of dishes and just keep bringing them out, you can then do a "bit of everything" and cater for everyone.

I think the tapas / mezze idea is the way to go . Otolenghi is a good shout as long as you live near ethnic food shops . Moro cookbook is my fave for mezze stuff. Have fun!

Tapas with something substantial like a lasagne? Means I can knock the ragu etc up for that tonight!

Tapas or Meze/Greek.

Lots of bread, and get gluten free too. A big rice and vegetable dish and a big salad.

Do as much prep as you can before hand. Work out a cooking order and make a list of what can be pre-cooked and reheated, plan a few flashy dishes to deliver straight out of the pan.
