Hi All,

I have been told today I'm getting a car and the choice are -

Toyota Auris 2.0 D4D Ti Spirit (nice Gun metal Grey) or 1.6 Ford Focus Zetec (horrible bright blue).

I have 2 kids and drive alot and am warming to the Toyota TBH, currently have a Mondeo Estate (hate it) what would you do.

If you have either, can you tell me the good and bad points.

cheers

Presumably you're getting a car they already have? If so can you take each one for a few days and see how you get on with them and which you prefer?

Failing that a test drive in a new one of each and have a good nose about them.

Assuming the company pays for fuel then go for the one that cost's the least in tax, neither are that exciting 😉

Won't the Toyota be cheaper to run and mean less company tax? Thats a good start. I've had 3 toyotas, they've all been great, the diesel especially.

Are they both the new models? (Focus is brand new, think the Auris is a facelift). If you don't really car about the driving/handling experience and are doing motorway miles, the Auris would take it hands down as the 2.0 D4D is a much more sophisticated lump than whats in the Focus.

Focus feels 'heavier' i.e more planted, due to better weighted steering and more sorted suspension, but IMO think the new Focus is no longer the joy to drive the original one was.

Running both of these cars on our fleet, if I was choosing which one to take home at night, would always be the Auris

I have a 57 plate 2.0 D4D T Spirit (don't know what the Ti is)

drives absolutely wonderful, decent handling
the centre console gear lever is a bit odd at first but you soon get used to it and it then feels more natural than a lower mounted one
I find it very comfortable, I regularly do a 300 mile trip without stopping at all

built in ipod connection and Bluetooth plus a big colour screen sat nav

pretty small boot is the only complaint really

I'd buy another one

I think they are either 59 or 60 plate.

The focus has a bigger boot (pit bike on and not on show) but TBH the Auris has more toys, do you know if they have MP3 connection.

Toyota every time. Am I alone in thinking that Ford's latest design language makes their cars almost indistinguishable from KIAs?
