I have a fair collection of mainly early 90's Marvel comics (Moon Knight, Daredevil, Spiderman) That have been in the loft for years and recently it hit me they may be worth something and I started looking at eBay and some of them fetch a pretty penny.
Most have been read once and put in a comic bag and stored ever since so are in very good condition.
The selling price varies considerably between private sellers and comic shops which have appraised the condition.
I am wary of selling on eBay and posting them, I've sold collectables before and nearly got ripped off by a dishonest buyer.
Can anyone advise on how to go about selling them for a sensible price? Is there shops or seller's that will appraise and take a cut?
Cheers
I'd have thought any shop would buy at a substantial discount so they could make a profit.
There are lots of online price guides, and a couple of printed ones.
I suppose it comes down to how much can you be bothered to appraise and sell each one individually.
Despite your wariness, eBay is probably your best forum for selling - just make sure condition is properly described and used tracked, signed for delivery.
I found a random Moon Knight comic when moving (can't remember buying it...) and put it on ebay with a 99p start, like all my listings.
It went for.... 99p. Just make sure your postage estimate is accurate 🙂
I do have a few other old comics and it seems that the prices vary wildly...
When going through mine, I found loads I don't remember buying. Some of them now worth a tidy sum.
If you're worried about ebay just make it cash on collection only.
Limits your market a bit and might take longer to sell but is best for peace of mind and least faff. See also gumtree and Facebook, there's bound to be a Facebook group for them somewhere
Also, dealers will likely offer a very low price, they need to make a profit.
For instance I'm selling off a load of CDs, Music Magpie offered me just over £6 for around 100 of them. I've pit them on ebay, sold about 20 of them so far for around £80.
Bundle them up to make listing easier? In my case say seven Belle & Sebastian CDs for £20, I'm sure the same could be down with comics
