Think I know the answer....but....

If I drain the central heating system to fit new radiators (albeit not immeadiately), will the boiler shut down completely - i.e not heat 'on demand' water as well as the CH circuit.

99% certain the asnwer will be yes, but would like to check 🙂

Boiler is a Worcester.

if you drop below the specified pressure - usually 0.5bar the boiler will shut down , the first step before doing what you describe would be to switch off the boiler.

I guess you could leave one rad (the one without TRV normally but any should do as long as you leave it open) and drain and remove the others provided you keep the pressure above min in the system. Just don't use the CH like that.

Nothing to stop you having big chunks of a system "missing" indefinitely, so long as the remainder is watertight, and bleed it so it's full of water, not air.
