The time has come to buy myself a coffee machine/device. I've bought enough from the high street cafe's recently to know that i'd like to make some decent stuff at home myself.

What do i want to buy? How do i make it? Where can i buy a decent selection of roasts from?

If this is all a little too demanding, please point me in the direction of coffeworld.com.

Gaggia Classic second hand from E Bay. Advice from coffee forums. Coffee from your local roasting house. Get stuck in.

What sort of coffee machine are you after? I've got a Gaggia Brera bean to cup machine and can thoughly recommend that.

I just use a cafetierre (french press), but I don't do anything fancy -just strong black coffee.
I like Carluccio's or Starbuck's Pike Place Roast beans and grind em up as needed in a Krups burr grinder I got from John Lewis.

No doubt some coffee bore will be along shortly to tell me I should have bought a more expensive grinder or I'm using the wrong beans.

It all depends on the kind of coffee you like and how much time you want to spend playing.

I have a Gaggia Classic but then I ENJOY all the choosing beans, grinding them, experimenting with strengths, frothing milk etc.

If I wasn't bothered about the faff, a stovetop does a great job at making nice coffee with pre-bought ground coffee.
