So how much is a ride? You should always provide a price!

Approx $17m US each apparently. Per helicopter, not ride.

Stupid question is probably stupid but we're they airlifting somebody off the roof? A worker or something?

UK Coastguard is currently assisting the Yorkshire Ambulance Service with a medical evacuation at York Minster Cathedral.
Just after 11am today (5 October) Yorkshire Ambulance Service requested assistance from the UK Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC) after receiving a report that someone needed medical assistance at the top of York Minster Cathedral.
Due to the inaccessible nature of the steeple, the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Humberside has been sent to assist with the medical evacuation.
This incident is ongoing and for any further information please contact the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

A worker or something?

A tourist most likely. It's a steep climb but a nice view.

I live under the flight path for Aberdeen heliport. Don't notice the noise at all. Maybe because most of the O&G workers have been paid off.

I, er, may know someone who climbed up the front of York Minster nekkid for a bet once.

Managed to stand on one of the big empty plinths for a quick photo before I heard the sirens.
Mates ran off, leaving my clothes in a pile near the door.
Just got me kecks on as PC Knapweed arrived.
🙂

It's a lot higher up than it seems.
😀

It doesn't take much to upset a fragile and unfit body; we thought we were going to be involved in a rescue one skiing day when we came across an elderly couple shivering at the Ptarmigan on Cairngorm, they were both blue around the lips and frozen, having come straight up in the train in street clothes. It was probably the first time they had left sea level for years.
